It is with immense sadness that we mourn the passing of Dolly Parton. She was a legendary singer, songwriter, actress, philanthropist, entrepreneur, attraction designer, and a beloved figure whose influence reached far beyond the world of entertainment.
For those of us in the attractions industry, Dolly’s legacy carries special meaning. In 1986, she partnered with Herschend to bring Dollywood Parks & Resorts to the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. What began as a shared vision for the region grew into one of America's most beloved theme parks and a world-class resort destination welcoming millions of guests each year.
Through Dollywood, Dolly demonstrated the powerful role attractions can play in creating joy, strengthening communities, and bringing generations of families together.
In recognition of her remarkable contributions and lasting influence on the global attractions industry, Dolly was inducted into the IAAPA Hall of Fame in 2025.
Her impact on our industry and on the countless people who experienced her generosity and unmistakable spirit will be felt for generations.
On behalf of IAAPA, we extend our deepest condolences to Dolly's family, friends, colleagues, the entire Herschend and Dollywood family, and all those around the world mourning her loss.
