Pence/ Pentz Hotel Historical Pentz Hotel and Messilla Valley School Site The Historical Pence Hotel was moved near it's original site in the Messilla Valley (Butte Co. Calif.)

to preserve the building and it's history. The Messilla Valley Schoolhouse once stood on the site and is restored in Concow, Ca. The Pence Hotel (also Pentz) housed a Post Office from 1864 to 1912. President R.B. Hayes and General Sherman visited the old Pence Hotel in 1880. The future plans are to place it on a foundation. The building permits are paid and a Black Asphalt encroachment was instal

led in 2011. The Book "Conflicts Between Settlers and Indians" In the Northern Sierra Foothills gives a detailed History of the Pioneer Manoah Pence, the Hotel and School.
