WoW! Where did September go? I'm not gonna lie... we're tired but a GOOD tired after an awesome season!!! This is our schedule:
The bar/restaurant has ONE MORE PRIME RIB NITE this Saturday Sep 26! PLEASE PLEASE call for a table reservation... we are usually sold out on tables and can only take so many (if any) walk ins! Please call SOON for your table!!

Sep 23 to Sep 26: Serving this Wed thru Sat from 5 to 8pm... Bar open as long as people are at it but at least till midnite on Friday and Saturday nite (Come visit Kasi and get one of her awesome mixed cocktails... she is quite the mixologist!!!)

BAR/RESTAURANT CLOSES SUNDAY NOON SEP 27! We RENT CABINS all year long but the lodge building will be closed!

When will be serve PRIME RIB has been asked alot these days?
FRIDAY, Sep 18 and SATURDAY Sep 26

We host the Annual Ash River Fish Off Fundraiser on Sat Sep 19 and our KITCHEN will be CLOSED that night.... BUT... join in the fun and raffle prizes and POTLUCK for $20 donation!!! Sign up for the CONTEST and all the FUN at ATL, AKN or Frontier Resorts!!! Best to sign up by Sep 18 around 10 pm at the resorts! ATL provides the meat and a few sides and needs a head count so we make enough!

Also, DJ DYlan of King of the Road Entertainment will be hosting the fun Saturday Sep 19 after the POTLUCK dinner! Come sing, dance or just plain have a few cocktails and listen to the great singers!

This is the Root B**r Lady and we proudly serve her famous root b**r at ATL! COme on and get a taste!

For the month of September, we will focus on things that don’t exist anymore. As part of the arrangement Dorothy had with the U.S. Forest Service, after her death the Isles of Pines (her islands) would be returned to a wilderness state. This involved getting rid of the buildings and other structures still there.
After the Memorial Snowmobile ride in 1987 to honor Dorothy's life, a group of people known as Dorothy’s Angels got the idea to bring out as much of the what was left at the Isles of Pines as they could to preserve Dorothy’s memory. Unfortunately, due to the limited grace period and unseasonally warm weather, not all buildings were able to be brought out. These now only exist in photos and memories.

Likely the most remembered of the structures on the Isles of Pines was McGee's Tent, or the “Root B**r Tent.” This tent resided on the northeast satellite island known as the Summer Island, and greeted tens of thousands of visitors over the years.
Dorothy began making root b**r in 1953 as a way to make additional income in addition to her fishing resort. Visitors would grab an ice cold root b**r from the Coca-Cola cooler to enjoy.
In this photo, you can see exactly that. You can also see many of the signs that Dorothy’s brother, Bud Molter made such as: KWITCHURBELIAKIN, WE DON’T MAKE MISSTEAKS, and IT MADE MILWAUKEE JEALOUS. On the back of the photo is written “Root b**r anybody!”

Still time to get in on this retreat that we are privileged to host this year!

𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧! And this year, it’s heading beyond classroom walls and into the wild at Voyageurs National Park.

Join us on October 2–4 for the 𝐕𝐨𝐲𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐮𝐫𝐬 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭, based at the Ash River Visitor Center near International Falls, Minnesota. The retreat is open to classroom teachers, outdoor instructors, homeschool educators, and others passionate about environmental education.

The weekend will feature:
🌿 Hiking and nature-based activities
🚤 A boat trip on Voyageurs’ waterways
🌛 Night-sky lessons
🔥 A special guest presentation from Fond du Lac elder Vern Northrup on fire-adapted ecosystems
