Fishing report from the local Bait Shop!
Fishing , Ice & Rental Report:
Wow! 2022 has been a year to remember for fishing! Excellent reports on perch and bluegill! Many have reported 100+ fish days for perch and several limits of 9-11inch fish! The bluegills have been on fire as well and the size on bluegills on Big Stone Lake is impressive with many bluegills in the 9-11inch range! Several have gone to the taxidermist! We also like to see these big ones released as well ;)
Technique changes everyday between red or white spikes, waxworms and crappie minnows.
Tungsten, small spoons and set lines are all producing fish. Fish mood changes daily and throughout the day so changing presentations is good.
Ice conditions are fantastic! The south half of the lake is averaging 20 inches and the Mallard Point area and north is around 16 inches. Last week we had 40 degree temps and high winds that melted 80% of the snow on the lake and refroze. There is about 50% of the lake that is now bare ice so travel with any vehicle is easy all over the lake right now! We are seeing all sizes of vehicles and houses on the ice now.

Feb 28, 1, 2 - 2 man day house $150
If the long range forecast looks cold, starting Feb 21 we will open reservations up for March 7-13. We will only be offering sleepers after March 6. For rentals after March 6 it will be a 2 day minimum and at least one person must sleep in the house as the state requires houses occupied overnight if left on the ice after March 5, 2022. We will be offering time blocks:
Mon. 1pm - Wed 10am $450 total
Wed. 1pm - Fri 10am $450 total
Fri. 2pm - Sunday noon $640 total
Again we will decide if we open these dates for reservations on Feb 21.
