Today was a bittersweet day for Green’s Quiet Acre.
The old Rebel Club building has officially been torn down. A lot of people around Osceola, Wilson, and the surrounding areas have memories tied to that place — music, family, friends, stories, and good times that go back generations. I’ve seen all the comments and emotions, and I completely understand why people feel connected to it.
This was not a decision made lightly. The building had reached a point where the structural condition, maintenance needs, liability concerns, and overall cost to safely restore it were beyond realistic repair for the future plans of the property. Sometimes the hardest decisions are the ones that have to be made for long-term progress and safety.
I want people to know the history and memories tied to the Rebel Club are respected. Tearing down the structure does not erase what it meant to this community. That history will always be part of this property and part of the people who experienced it.
My goal with Green’s Quiet Acre is to continue improving the property, investing back into the area, creating something clean, safe, and positive for the future, while still respecting where it came from.
To everyone who shared memories, pictures, stories, and emotions about the Rebel Club — thank you. That alone shows how much impact that place had on people over the years.
