The Waterfront at Covenant Hills got a much-needed upgrade with new anchors and additional water element. And a Lifeguard platform. That should help keep our waterfront, safe and fun for everyone. Really looking forward to seeing all the kids using it today.

"Mother Mary" was an incredibly important person to the programs at Covenant Hills Camp and we are honored to continue her legacy today. You will be missed! Read more about Mary and her incredible life as we celebrate her story.

On June 12, 1965, Mary married the love of her life, Gary Wayne Mace. Together, they created a home filled with love, Chinese cooking classes, neighbors, carnival glassware, camping, snowmobiles and books from Zondervans. As an active member of Clio Free Methodist Church and later New Covenant Church for 57 years, Mary was faithful in every aspect of her life. She taught Sunday school, ran the church craft show, was a representative to the East Michigan Conference and to the Free Methodist General Conference. For years “Mother Mary” was the Program Director at Covenant Hills teaching primaries and junior and senior teens. Working with the college students she hired as counselors and lifeguards was a lasting joy to her. But her true calling was leading adult Sunday school class. Mary didn’t mince words, she readily expressed a deep Christian ethic and her own sharp opinion. The decades of classes and the love that members gave her and each other was truly sustaining.

Our program staff training concludes today. They spent the final hours of their training praying over the bell and preparing their hearts for these campers. We want to take the time to introduce all of you to them but make sure to come to camp and visit us! Time to live UPSIDE DOWN!

Today we had a tornado warning, CPR first aid training, and concluded with some games at the Cove Commons. I loved sitting today at dinner, watching our staff make jokes and share life together. God answered our prayers with a couple of new prep cooks to join our team. We are just about fully staffed at Covenant Hills for the summer!

When you think about being a camp director you can assume you are going to have a fairly unique job, however this last week was especially fun. From school groups, to a small wedding, to bonfires by the lake, last minute Girl Scouts, a chili cook off, and finally to a random pig showing up during high ropes. I love these fun moments but I especially love working at a place that brings glory to God, and allows us to be fascinated by his creation! Summer is here folks, but hopefully less pigs!

Genesee County Prevention Coalition came today with the help of Christine one of our board members at Covenant Hills.

Staff learned how to help campers who may or may not have past trauma and how to help support them!

Thanks Jen, Christine and Halle for setting us up!

The Summer staff have arrived!! We have an amazing crew on our program team this year to lead cabins, run program and impact lives for Christ! I love how they started their training by immediately printing their boss Halle! This is going to be a fun summer!

On a sidenote, we are looking for extra female cabin leaders for July 19 through the 23rd. This can be a volunteer or paid stipend position. Our summer camps are maxing out very quickly. We will have to close a few sessions if we don’t recruit a few more leaders. If you love the Lord and have a week in July to give to us contact. [email protected]

Today we finally got rain and it didn’t stop our friends from Flushing and a last minute Girl Scout troop from dominating trivia! The morning was perfect and the afternoon was a bit wet. The kids were great sports and fun was still had by all!
