There are no strangers at the Raines Resort dock—just friends we haven’t met yet!

We witnessed the magic of community in action during a couple of cool evenings on the water this weekend. After hooking a beautiful salmon, a seasoned Nestucca angler passed his rod over to a first-time guest/fisherman without hesitation to let them reel in and keep the excitement. Inspired by the gesture, another guest treated the whole hungry crew to fresh, juicy steaks right on the dock because he overheard that they were hungry!

Kindness truly is infectious, and we are so grateful for the amazing guests who bring this precious spot to life. Let it spread like the ocean breeze! 🍃🐟

The fish didn’t play along today, but nobody seemed to mind. An afternoon spent on the dock away from the valley heat wave, watching bobbers, enjoying a cold beer, and talking about bacon-wrapped elk steaks is still a pretty good day in our book.

Just got a fresh batch of sand shrimp in. Get them before they are gone at the self serve station at the property next to the Woods Bridge.

Nothing makes us happier than seeing our guests hook into a fish off the dock.

Tony has been giving it his all for three straight days, fishing through every tide change. Yesterday, a nice fish got away after snapping his leader, but he came back determined. Today, perseverance won the day, and he finally landed one.

The smile says it all. Persistence pays off. Well done, Tony! 🎣🐟😄

I had so much fun watching this video! For a moment, it looked like little brother was trying his hardest to sabotage big brother’s fish (classic sibling move!), but he actually proved to be a pretty impressive first-time net man.

Congratulations to these boys on catching their first tidewater steelhead. The teamwork, excitement, and victory dance afterward are exactly what fishing memories are made of.

Our young guest Macsen landed a beautiful steelhead off the dock this afternoon with grandparents, parents, uncle and aunt, all watching and cheering him on.

These kids have energy to spare! They were up early this morning, limiting out on rockfish with Captain Mark Lytle of Pacific City Fishing on a dory boat, then came back and spent the afternoon fishing from the dock in hopes of hooking a Springer.

Persistence paid off. While it wasn’t the Spring Chinook he was after, Macsen was rewarded with a gorgeous summer steelhead—the silvery cousin of the springer.

Congratulations, Macsen! That’s a fish and a memory you’ll never forget.

Hello Nestucca Fishermen and Fisherwomen — our self-serve bait station is officially up and running for the season!

Fresh salmon candy (aka sand shrimp) dropped today and is ready to go. The cooler is located right outside the front office door at Raines Resort.

Same price as last year: $6 per dozen.

Just drop payment in the drop box through the office door — and don’t forget to say hi to the doorbell camera. If you’re short on cash, no worries: speak to the camera, leave your name and phone number, and settle up next time. We run on the honor system.

We’ll do our best to keep the station stocked with fresh bait throughout the fishing season.
