🔥 **PLEASE HELP US KEEP OUR COAST SAFE — WILDFIRE DANGER IS HIGH** 🔥
Tillamook County has shared an important reminder for residents and visitors: **Pacific City and Tierra Del Mar and our surrounding coastal communities are currently experiencing HIGH wildfire danger, with extremely high fire-fuel loads.**
Even here on the coast, wildfire is a very real risk. A little extra caution can make a huge difference in protecting our homes, forests, beaches and first responders.
🌲 **PLEASE BE FIRE AWARE**
• Avoid outdoor burning during high-risk conditions.
• Create and maintain defensible space around your home and property.
• Know your evacuation routes and have a “Go Bag” ready.
• Never discard ci******es or anything hot into dry vegetation.
• Avoid parking vehicles on dry grass.
• Pay attention to local fire restrictions and evacuation notices.
🔥 **BEACH BONFIRES — PLEASE USE EXTRA CAUTION**
Beach fires are regulated by Oregon State Parks, and restrictions can change quickly during fire season. **Always check current fire restrictions BEFORE starting a beach fire.**
When beach fires are permitted:
🏖️ Build fires **only on dry, open sand**, well away from beach grass, dunes and driftwood. Tillamook County advises staying at least **50 feet from grass and driftwood**.
🔥 Keep fires small — Oregon State Parks recommends flames stay **below knee height (about 2 feet).**
💧 Keep plenty of water nearby and **never leave a fire unattended.**
🚫 **Do NOT bury a fire with sand.** Sand can insulate hot coals and leave them dangerously hot for days.
💦 When you're finished, **drown the fire completely with water, stir the embers, add more water and make sure everything is cool to the touch before leaving.**
🎆 And remember: **Fireworks are prohibited year-round on Oregon beaches and Oregon State Parks property.**
Our beaches and coastal forests are a huge part of what makes Pacific City and the North Oregon Coast so special. Whether you live here or are visiting us, please help protect them. ❤️🌊🌲
**When in doubt — skip the fire.**
Please share and help spread the word!
