The oldest working lighthouse on the West Coast is a six-minute walk away. 🏮 Point Pinos was first lit on 1 February 1855 and it has never stopped — still throwing its beam seventeen miles out through the same French Fresnel lens it was built with.
For twenty-one years it was kept by Emily Fish, who ran it with such style the town called her the Socialite Keeper. Open Thursday 1–3 and Friday to Sunday 11–3, seven dollars. Then walk out to the rocks behind it and watch the water do its thing.
