July 4th Activities Along The Highway 2026

PAINTSVILLE-2-day Freedom Fest. Car Show, food vendors, city fireworks display on the 4th. There'll be a parade and live music.
GREENUP CO.-Celebrate America 250. July 3, Thunder Over Greenup Parade, Hammertowne Bluegrass music 8-9:15 p.m followed by fireworks at 9:45
July 4, a pancake breakfast at the Extension Office 9-11 a. m.
A special patriotic program at the Extension Office begins at
10 a.m. Enjoy a Farmers Market, food, music and an Ice Cream
Social from noon til 4 p.m.
PRESTONSBURG-July 4th fireworks, a carnival at Archer Park, music,
food booths and trucks, and a special dance program with lessons.
PIKEVILLE-Fourth of July fireworks at "dark thirty" , preceded by a hot pepper eating contest. Also enjoy food booths and trucks, a hot sauce competition, and live music on Main St. There'll be live entertainment on the Mt. Top Media stage.
WHITESBURG/LETCHER CO. Fri. July 3, a car show, water slide, bouncy house, live music and a hot dog eating contest.
Sat. July 4-At James Wiley Craft Park, gates open at 9 a.m., live music starts at 4 p.m. and will finish with an excellent Eagles tribute band, 7 Bridges. The fireworks show will happen at the end of the music.

Chris Stapleton Wins 12th Grammy
and Tyler Childers Claims His First

Chris Stapleton has once again won a grammy at the 2026 ceremonies to notch his
12th such honor, and another Country Music Highway star has just earned his first
such acclaim.
Stapleton performed live on the televised award show with his honored tune, "Bad
As I Used To Be". The song is an up tempo, driving sound with a lot of instrumentation
scattered throughout.
Tyler Childers is another performer that came out of Paintsville schools to embark on a
career in music.
His award winning song he personally wrote is called "Bitin List". It carries a promise to
someone he "doesn't like". The humor laced main line says that if he ever gets rabies,
the aforementioned person will be at the top of his "bitin'(g) list!

JEREMIAH PARSONS WAS AMONG THE BEST TOURISM DIRECTORS I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED.
I HAVE DEALT WITH MORE THAN 25 AREA TOURISM PROGRAMS FOR THE LAST 16 YEARS.
AND, HE WAS A GREAT THEATER DIRECTOR AND MENTOR FOR MANY YOUNG PEOPLE WHO ARE OR HAVE ACTIVELY PERFORMED AT THE DOWNTOWN SIPP THEATER.
HIS WARM PERSONALITY AND ENTHUSIASM FOR MANY THINGS HE WAS INVOLVED IN IN RECENT YEARS WILL ALWAYS STAND OUT IN ALL OUR MINDS.

Carter Caves State Resort Park is preparing for their annual Winter Adventure Weekend on January 22nd thru 25th.
This special event features plenty of special activities for all participants. Explorations of the caves at the park will be ongoing, as there will also be hiking, tree climbing, and numerous other activities and workshops for all those interested in outdoor adventures.
Canoeing or kayaking on a six-mile trek on Tygart's Creek is also possible, see park officials for qualifying details.
Rappelling will also be available, and experienced as well as all beginners are welcome to participate and learn the many ways to enjoy the cold weather and all the fun to be had with the group that will be joining in with all the adventure seekers on Winter Adventure Weekend at the Carter Caves State Resort Park near Olive Hill.
