Historical Bed and Breakfast named after Naturalist, William Bartram.
MISSION OF THE BARTRAM INN: To provide a lovely gathering place and lodging for “Bartram travelers” while giving me (the owner) a special place to live, work, and play, and wonderful interesting people to meet.
Go back in time to 1774 when William Bartram traveled up the St.Johns River. Learn and experience many of the natural places he wrote about in “Travels.” Here is a place for healthy sleeping, healthy activity, and healthy exchange through stories, art, music, and community events. Rocking chairs on riverview verandas, offer time for relaxation and reflection. Downtown restaurants and lounges are a short walk away.
Why Palatka? It is a riverfront town, rich in history of the early days of Florida tourism, when people came by steamship, and overland by horse and buggy. People are friendly and the tempo is right. William Bartram visited and wrote about many places along the St.Johns River, that have been identified today and marked with Bartram signs. Maps, an interactive website, and local guides all have created a “Bartram happening” here.
Come and stay a spell. Winters are mild, sunny, and the best time for exploring. Springtime offers an array of flowers to tintilate the senses. Bartram Inn visitors will be treated with typical southern charm. Several rooms offer an array of prices and weeklong or month stays discounts are available. Bicycles are available along with maps of great bicycle routes. State and National parks and forests surround the area offering springs, ravines, trails, ocean vistas, hammocks and uplands.
