Before you trust a venue with your whole group, you probably want to know who's behind it. That's a fair question — and here in East Texas, the honest answer starts with my dad, Jerry Spencer. More than forty years ago, he looked at a stretch of wilderness near Palestine and saw a place worth building a life around. He was a self-made man, a Captain in the Marine Corps, a mentor to many, and this ranch was his favorite place on earth. We run Dead Cat Ranch today on everything he stood for: hospitality, respect, and putting people first. What's the one place that always felt like home to you?

What my dad built here was never really about the acreage. Twelve hundred acres is a lot of beautiful East Texas land, but the land was never the point. It was always about hospitality, respect, and treating people like family the moment they arrive. That's the legacy I carry forward today, and it shapes every single thing we do at Dead Cat Ranch.
