It is a cliché, but true, that we must embrace change as we go through the phases of our lives. The time has come for me to retire as GM of Sand Dune Shores and move on to my next phase. My last official day was Saturday (February 28th). (They threw me a wonderful surprise retirement party on Wednesday!)
Our excellent operations team - Karen, Peggy, Shelly, and Jean - will remain and continue to look after the resort as they always have. Together with your strong, passionate Board of Directors, they will carry on with our high standards of quality and welcoming hospitality. (The BOD is working together with the management company (Capital Vacations) in a process to find the best candidate as my successor for this unique opportunity.)
I cannot imagine a better place for me to have ended my working career. From the awesome beach location with quaint and comfortable accommodations and cool amenities to the dedicated employees and owners and the “feels like family” atmosphere, it has been a perfect, happy fit for me. Working all together, we have made many improvements over the last 10 years and laid a solid foundation for the future. We know that that success will continue.
I will miss this special place and its people very much, and I will keep in touch.
We had a heavy rainfall on my last day. It passed, as all storms do, and the sun came back out, as it always does. But Saturday a beautiful rainbow appeared as well. OK, rainbows are not uncommon, but I read that as a sign of hopeful change. I’m on to new adventures now, and the future of Sand Dune Shores is bright.
Cheers, Rich
