As our first season at Borealis Bison Barns comes to a close, I’ve found myself looking around at this place and thinking… how did all of this happen in less than a year?
I bought this dream property in February after I had spent a year drooling over it, dreaming about it, and praying over it. And thanks to the incredible real estate clients who trusted me with their homes and their moves last year, I was able to turn that dream into reality.
We opened our doors in May, and what a first season it has been. ❤️
My daughter and I are both real estate agents and fourth- and fifth-generation Alaskans. This property feels like such a beautiful connection to our roots, with two original 1935 Colony haylofts that have been given a whole new life.
This fall has been our first fall here. Our first summer. Our first events. Our first guests. Our first weddings and elopements. So many firsts, and we haven’t even been here a full year.
But maybe the part I’m most grateful for is the community that has started to grow here.
When I bought this property, I knew I wanted to create something that Alaska was missing. A place where women could gather, connect, laugh, learn, celebrate, and feel at home. A safe space for young women, women my age, divorced women, single moms, and women from all walks of life.
And somehow, in just a few short months, that little idea has already started becoming something real.
A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us, collaborated with us, booked with us, celebrated here, shared our posts, told a friend, or simply believed in what we’re building.
And a special shoutout to Tundra Barbie, Peak Physique, Apex Chiropractic, Melissa Heers and so many others who have been such a breath of fresh air and an incredible part of this first chapter.
We’re already booking elopements and weddings for next summer, and seeing people plan their biggest moments here for a place that didn’t even exist a year ago is something I don’t take for granted.
We are so grateful.
This is only the beginning, and we have so much more planned for Borealis Bison Barns over the next few months.
