Along with running the B&B, and raising Shetland Sheep I am a potter. I typically dread opening my kiln as it can either be a sad disappointment after putting perfectly lovely bisqueware in and having it ruined by a glaze gone bad, OR it may be wonderful. But I am not a gambler and don't like surprises. I am not patient, don't enjoy journalling details and keeping track of glaze recipes etc, so my learning process is slow. BUT I took the time THIS TIME, to go slow, layer as many as 5 different glazes on some of these pieces, made notes and am delighted with several of these!! I did toss about 15 pieces I was unhappy with, but 15 out of 65 for me is ok. So, I am happy enough I want to share some finished products here. BIG deep breath for me as I know EVERYONE has a different version of what is 'lovely'. 🙂. I even started adding random little artwork on the bottoms just for fun. Good thing I have an on-property gift shop since I no longer have a gift shop in downtown Palmer. Admittedly it's a bit heavy with too much pottery.

Its that time of year again.. .just got all the hay in, pens rearranged for winter, barn raked, heated troughs put out, winter prep underway and WHAT A DAY!!... The view ... awwwwww.

For the first time in many years, I am keeping only these 6 most favorite ewes this winter. Sold both rams, then sold 3 ewes yesterday. These are my sweetest, snuggliest, most lovable girls. The brown one is the matriarch, elderly Jesse. She is now 14!

Joe and I took another fantastic run up to Matanuska glacier on this gorgeous sunny day! Lunch at Eureka Lodge, took both dogs and enjoyed friends.

Our sheep have a view most people only get to visit. We love to share our breathtaking view.

Last evening. My barn is easily my pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. I am blessed.

FINALLY, my first little ewe lambs of the season (very cold spring for sure). Marshmo had 2 healthy little girls. I've been sleeping in the barn even with temps down to freezing.. so some of these pics are of me snuggling Leonard (the ram) who gets a little case of FOMO during this time. lol. Then other pics are just of the girls being needy for snuggles.
