Tucked among tropical gardens, koi ponds, lagoons, fountains, and art from around the world, we've been doing our own thing in Palo Alto since 1957, offering guests a tropical escape in the heart of Silicon Valley.

Meet Samantha, one of the friendly faces you’ll find at our front desk. From welcoming guests at check-in to helping with anything they may need during their stay, she’s often the very first part of the Dinah’s experience.

What Samantha loves most about working here is how every day feels a little different. One moment she’s helping guests settle in after a long day of travel, the next she’s pointing someone toward the koi lagoons, tropical gardens, or a relaxing dinner at Dinah’s Poolside Restaurant. She especially loves watching guests discover the quieter corners of the property, from the ducklings wandering through the gardens to the peaceful water features tucked throughout the hotel.

Her coworkers describe her as bubbly, outgoing, and always bringing good energy to the team, and she takes pride in helping create a warm, welcoming atmosphere from the moment guests walk through the door.

Keeping watch at the entrance, with a little extra flair. 🐘

Our life-size Thai processional elephants are one of those details that make Dinah’s feel like Dinah’s: unexpected, storied, and unlike anywhere else in Palo Alto before you’ve even checked in. Collected by our founders, Milla and Raymond Handley, these 19th-century pieces are just two of the many unusual works of art tucked throughout our gardens and hotel.

Consider them our unofficial welcome committee!

A stay with beauty, comfort, and a little extra TLC.

A comfortable bed, a serene garden view, a plush robe after a shower, original art in every guest room, and nature waiting just outside your door. The details may be small, but they make all the difference.

Our on-site Dinah's Poolside Restaurant serves all-day dining in a bright indoor-outdoor setting, with local, organic ingredients and that classic Dinah’s feeling we’ve been cultivating for decades: relaxed, welcoming, and quietly transportive.

Our current favorite: the Hanger Steak with salsa verde and herb fries, pictured here and very much worth your attention.

Our tropical gardens were originally designed by renowned landscape architect Robert Royston, with lagoons, koi ponds, cascading water, and a Japanese-style bridge woven throughout the property to offer a peaceful place to slow down, recharge, and feel surrounded by nature in the heart of Palo Alto.

There is no better way to start a Silicon Valley morning than right by the water with the delicious Sourdough French Toast from our in room dining menu. We’re talking perfectly golden slices infused with orange zest and vanilla bean, drizzled with crème anglaise, and topped with fresh seasonal fruit. Add a glass of our hand-squeezed, made-to-order orange juice, and you might just want to stay in your robe all day!
