🍋‍🟩 Did you know that when you stay at Key Lime Cottage , you are surrounded by rich local history?✨

🍋‍🟩 If you’ve ever popped into the iconic Carousel Supermarket to grab beach snacks, steaks for the grill, or a bottle of w**e, you’ve walked straight into Laguna Beach history! 🛒🍷

🍋‍🟩Here is the cool backstory:

👉 The Visionary Father: Back in 1935, a man named Joseph Broderick Lahan arrived here from Alabama. He fell in love with this stretch of coast, bought up more than half the local land, and literally mapped out the Laguna Beach community we know and love today! 🗺️ Strand Avenue—right near our cottage—was even named after his wife's family!

👉 The Son's Legacy: In July 1967, his son, Charlie Lahan, built upon that family foundation and opened Carousel Supermarket.

🍋‍🟩 Nearly 60 years later, Carousel is still family-owned and operated, keeping that nostalgic, small-town beach charm alive. We love recommending it to our guests because it’s so much more than a grocery store—it’s a piece of Laguna Beach’s founding history! 🌊🏖️

🍋‍🟩FUN FACT FRIDAY🍋‍🟩
⛱️ In the mid-1930s, Birmingham businessman Joseph Broderick Lahan {there's a street named after him} purchased a large amount of land in what became Laguna Beach, FL.

⛱️ His vision was essentially to create a beach community where friends and families from Birmingham and elsewhere could enjoy the Gulf Coast lifestyle. Early residences were being purchased or built by people from Alabama, Georgia and the Florida Panhandle.

⛱️ Laguna Beach was established in 1935. Key Lime Cottage was built in 1936 and has been sitting there through nearly that entire story, literally growing up with Laguna Beach. 💚
