Since the last time we were here the hurricane hit us, we came back again for a quick weekend and some sunshiney, beachside time!
I was so incredibly happy the moment I walked in ~ it’s like an entirely new house!!!! 😍

Are you ready???
We’re so incredibly excited to show you the “New, Improved” Laguna Breeze Cottage!
From a video & pics of the very first day we ever walked in, to how most of you have been seeing it when you’ve visited, to our work week during Hurricane Isaias recently. {the final pictures were actually taken that night when the hurricane made landfall. 😜🤪 We were working while others were evac-ing}
This sweet cottage has taken on an entirely new vibe! And it’s a GOOD one!
No more old, gold granny hardware or weird blue walls!
Laguna Breeze is now light, bright, and airy with new paint, ceiling fans, carpet, a new wood & tile backsplash, updated kitchen sink, modern faucet, sleek black hardware, and a new 65” smart tv!
We given it a new, calming sage color pop mixed with the creamy white walls and wood accents and it’s absolutely perfect!
We’re keeping our original, trusty, 1975 vintage wall oven & island cooktop ~ they are our statement piece and what adds the charm making us a sweet cottage and not just another regular beach house.
We’ll soon be updating our coffee bar area, too, so follow our page for more updates and fun times spent here with us!

Remember when we posted that pic last week of what was supposed to be a warm, sunny beachside vacation at the cottage for us?
Well, we’re ready to show you how that cloudy, rainy, hurricane-y week ended up!

7am Hurricane Aftermath Report:
The cottage held up SO very well!
Just a few things blown around & a bit of flashing torn from the shed. Thank goodness our big tree did not come down onto the pergola! This is what we’ve been most worried about and have been waiting for the tree guy to take it down before a storm just like this happened & caused big problems. I guess that tree would rather wait for him than be ripped out by a Cat2 hurricane! 🤣
Down at the beach it looks really good!
Seems as tho’ the storm surge never topped our first dune burm! Absolutely no debris anywhere except for one chair we saw. And one can of RedBull standing straight up.
It seems to have taken out the entrance sign and whipped it up into the back dunes.
The beach is completely level and smooth now.
And we’re not really sure what that digger guy was doing out so early already but it must’ve been important!
Other than that, just a few broken things around the neighborhood ~ considering how that wind was last night, and it was scary quite a few times!, our little community has seemed to come thru this storm fairly well.

Hurricane Esaias has just made landfall in Destin a few minutes ago, thank goodness!
So the worst is now behind us.
This wind is absolutely crazy!
We’re good here in the cottage ~ our sweet house is holding up so well & strong! And tho’ we’ve been watching transformers blowing up in the distance, power only went out once here for just a few minutes.
The neighbors tree cracked off in 1/2, but ours are still standing strong!
Tho’ they’re terribly wind-whipped. 😔
I’ve never heard wind as bad as this storm has brought…not even when we were in Hurricane Andrew in ‘92 in Ft.Lauderdale.
This vid is from about 4pm today as the storm was starting to move in.
Those waves were SO crazy HUGE, but also so beautiful to watch.
We went back down about 6p, and the water was already up to the dunes.
We’ll go back again in the morning ~ hopefully the storm surge hasn’t washed away too much of our beautiful beach!

Well.
What was supposed to be our vacation week here has turned into a work week with all the rainy weather we’ve had going on.
So stay tuned for some big, needed changes to the cottage!
Now we just gotta pray that stays to our west this weekend and doesn’t strengthen as it gets closer to us! 🤞 ⛈️ 🌪️
