Panama City Beach Power Update

We know several neighborhoods and condominium complexes throughout Panama City Beach are still without power, and we still have several traffic signals that are not working.

We have been in communication with Florida Power & Light (FPL), and they are working hard to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.

We understand the frustration, especially after everything everyone has been through over the last couple of days. We just ask for a little more patience as crews continue working to get our community back up and running.

One important safety reminder: If you are using a generator, please make sure it is running OUTSIDE, at least 20 feet away from your home, doors, windows, and vents. Never operate a generator inside your home, garage, or any enclosed space. Carbon monoxide is deadly, and we don’t want anyone getting hurt while trying to get through a power outage.

Also, please remember to treat intersections with nonworking traffic signals as four-way stops.

We’re making progress, PCB. We’re not back to 100% yet, but we’re getting there. Thank you for your patience, and please stay safe.

Conditions are deteriorating across Bay County, and beaches are now under double red flags. Stay out of the water. Rip currents and rough surf are life-threatening, and entering the water is against the law.
Winds and rain are picking up, and flooding is possible in low-lying areas. Please stay off the roads and never drive through floodwater.

Preparedness tips from Bay County Sheriff's Office

🌧️ WE’RE WATCHING THE STORM AND WE’RE WATCHING OUT FOR YOU. 🌧️

The Bay County Sheriff’s Office is closely monitoring the storm and staying in constant communication with our emergency management partners. Our deputies, dispatchers, supervisors, and support personnel are preparing now so we’re ready to respond to whatever this storm brings.

But we need you to prepare now, too.

🌀 Know your evacuation zone and have a plan.
🏠 Secure outdoor furniture and anything that could become a projectile.
⛽ Fill up your vehicles and have several days of food, water and medications.
🔦 Charge your phones and have flashlights, batteries and important documents ready.
🐶 Don’t forget your pets.
⚡ If using a generator, keep it outside and away from doors, windows and vents.

Residents in Evacuation Zones A and B are strongly encouraged to relocate to a safer location before conditions deteriorate. Don’t wait until roads become flooded or impassable.

Please stay off the roads when conditions worsen.

Most importantly, stay informed through official sources. Sign up for AlertBay at AlertBay.org and follow the Bay County Sheriff’s Office and Bay County Emergency Services for verified updates.

We’re preparing. We’re ready. And we’re looking out for you. Let’s make sure you’re ready, too. 💙
