TownePlace Suites by night...This part of town had not been well illuminated at night for many, many years. It was still very dark through most of the construction period. Not any more! Drive or walk by some night. It's quite a change.

We checked in our first guest yesterday, Mr. Ben Parks, from Maryland. No, it doesn't take six people for a check-in! Everyone just wanted to be there for this important milestone in our project.

Good evening Parkersburg. All quiet tonight at the new TownePlace Suites Marriott Parkersburg. Tomorrow we expect final approval from Marriott to open the hotel. I am wandering around the building almost in tears, exhausted, but proud of the great opening team that made this happen. It has been nearly five years in the making and 30 years since the old Uptowner Inn closed. So many people to thank, here and at Marriott. It was an amazing experience and I hope our guests enjoy our city and the hotel.

We have been asked by many folks, “How do I apply for a job at the TownePlace Suites Marriott?” We are delighted that you would be interested in joining us! Typical hotel jobs are front desk, night audit, housekeeping, laundry, breakfast, and maintenance. Education requirements are not challenging, hotel experience is valuable, but most importantly a friendly hard-working attitude is essential. Two ways to apply: 1. Sign up at Workforce West Virginia, 300 Lakeview Center, Parkersburg WV 26101 (behind Buffalo Wild Wings, next to Value City) and tell them you are interested in jobs with us. Many details remaining, but it's starting to feel like a hotel. Moving furniture, cleaning rooms, setting up internet and phones, even have the pool operational.

Installing Trespa panels on 8th Street side, Guest Laundry, Exercise, and other spaces completed, positioning furniture in Lobby And Breakfast area

Wall coverings hung in the Lobby, artwork mounted in the upper hallways and guestrooms. All of the Marriott standard prototype colors and textures work nicely in this classic building!
