Today I got called Dr. Seuss by my son… and honestly, the librarian in me felt pretty honored.

We have guests with a little girl turning 5 staying at the bungalow this weekend, so I hid 5 tiny rubber ducks around the house with rhyming clues to help her find them.

Because birthdays should feel like an adventure.

One duck by the maps near the door…
One duck by the starfish tic-tac-toe…
One duck hiding inside the orange ottoman…
One duck tucked in the magnetic tiles waiting for her to build a barn…
And the final duck waiting on the door to the backyard play space.

One of my favorite things about hosting is that people don’t just come here to stay…

They come here to celebrate.

Birthdays.
Anniversaries.
Family visits.
Little adventures.

And sometimes those celebrations come with a Dr Seuss touch. Hosting is fun when you get to create moments like this.

There’s a certain kind of quiet here…the soft rhythm of wind in the oaks, water resting in the pond, and the gentle rustle of wings passing through.

A cardinal stopped by for breakfast, bright as a flame against the green.Many believe cardinals carry messages, reminders that loved ones are near, that you’re guided, that you’re not walking alone.

Whether you believe that or simply enjoy the stillness, moments like this have a way of settling the soul.
Slow mornings, deep breaths, and the feeling that time stretches just a little longer than usual.

It got an overhaul just like us.

Since we bought this place in 2022, sight unseen, we immediately were flooded with all of the ideas of what this place could be. Those ideas are always flowing, but now it's about what aligns with what's right for us. For now, we have simplified to food forest and bungalow accommodations only; we were never an event center like many assumed.

We are protecting our peace and the serenity that we invite others to join in on through the bungalow rental.

Will things change in the future? Probably. I have a pattern of switching things up every few years, just as I switched up the bungalow decor, sleeping arrangements, and bungalow kid play area. I do have some fun, unique future plans. Let's wait and see what the universe has in store for us.
