One of West Virginia’s most exhilirating hikes and beautiful sights...Seneca Rocks towers nearly 900 feet straight up above the North Fork River in the heart of the Monongahela National Forest, making it one of the most striking natural landmarks in the state. Spring is one of the best times to visit, as the landscape comes back to life after winter. Trees begin to fill in with fresh green leaves, hills turn bright again, and small wildflowers start to pop up across the ground. The Seneca Rocks Trail makes a steady climb up the mountain to a viewing platform, where you can look out over miles of rolling hills and thick forest. Rock climbers can often be seen scaling the tall rock fins, while hikers stop to take in the cool air and wide views. Everything feels fresh, open, and full of life this time of year.
