January Letter 2026
Warm Winter Greetings to all of our Buehler’s family,
As we welcome a new year, we hope this letter finds you well, warm, and dreaming…just a little…about time spent at the farm.
January has always been a season for reflection at Buehler’s, and this year especially, we find ourselves thinking about legacy. With grateful hearts we hold close the memory of Mark, who so lovingly ran Buehler’s alongside Mary and their wonderful family. Mark meant so much to so many and has been an inspiration to us all. He will forever be a part of the heart and spirit of this place; woven into the traditions, memories, good times, and many laughs shared here. I personally will always be so thankful I had the opportunity to get to know him and to call him my friend.
For those of you who may not know me, my name is Eileen. Like many of you, I first came to Buehler’s as a guest when I was a child, returning year after year, an experience that helped shape who I am today. I also had the joy of working alongside Mark and Mary for many summers, learning not just how the farm runs, but what truly makes it special: the people, the traditions, and the feeling that Buehler’s is more than a vacation…it’s a home you return to.
This year, Mason, Matt, and I will be working together to steward and run the Inn.
Many of you already know Matt. He has deep roots here as well and a genuine love for the farm. Mason, who joined us as head chef last summer, is a long time friend of Matts and brings both talent and an appreciation for what a special place this is. Together, we are committed to honoring the character and values you love while also caring for the property so it can continue to thrive. Our goal this year is simple and heartfelt: to care for Buehler’s Idlewild so it can continue to be shared with the families it means so much to.
We are incredibly grateful to Scott, who has generously agreed to lease the farm to us for another year. Our hope is that with your continued support we will have a successful season. That success will help make it possible for us to make necessary updates, purchase the property, and keep Buehler’s going long term. Filling each family’s week, spreading the word, and welcoming new guests who appreciate the magic of this place will truly make a difference.
One final note I wanted to share. I had a conversation with Scott recently. We agreed our shared belief is that Mr. Buehler and Mark have reconnected somewhere peaceful, maybe shared some stories, and are together keeping an eye on the place they loved. We believe they are smiling knowing that Buehler’s is still bringing people together. We know they’re cheering us on—and maybe even will be sending a little luck our way to set the stage for many more endless summers to follow!
We are forever thankful for each of you. Our hope for this year is health, happiness, and many familiar faces returning to the farm. We will be sending out reserved / and open dates to everyone in the coming weeks.
We can’t wait to welcome you back.
With gratitude and hope,
Mason, Matt, and Eileen
