A 2026 StayFi survey found 82% of short-term rental guests now compare their options against hotels, and they're picking rentals for the space, the kitchen, the extra bedroom, the stuff that makes a place feel like yours for a few days. Location barely cracked the top five reasons.
Cabins specifically are having a moment. Bookings are up 80% since the pandemic, and 81% of Gen Z travelers have already stayed in one. This isn't a "quaint getaway for retirees" thing anymore. People are choosing the cabin first and building the rest of the trip around it.
