Yesterday we got a pretty great surprise when a familiar face came strolling up…

APOLLO IS BACK!! 🥾

Apollo rolled into Angels Rest earlier in the NOBO season with a hiking-related injury.
While he was here healing, we offered him WFS to help take a little of the financial pressure off while he rested up in hopes of getting back on trail.

Unfortunately, his body had other plans. 😅 😞
The injury won and Apollo was forced off trail for a few months to fully recover.

Yesterday, he came strolling back up the drive
— healed up, ready to hike with only 600ish miles left to complete his thru-hike.

It was SO good to see this guy again! ❤️

Welcome back, Apollo!
Now go knock out those last few miles and try to stay in one piece this time. 😂

We will be cheering you on from Angels Rest!

A good friend of ours is missing!

Known by the hiking and biking community as Mischief via his YouTube channel and his incredible photography.

He’s been working as a campground host in New Hampshire Lincoln, NH.

According to the info from others—he went to visit friends, was expected back at the campground last Thursday. He never showed up…

That is HIGHLY unlike Mischief.
He would most likely be traveling on his Bike—

Someone in the community have reached out to the local PD in that area—he is verified as a missing person.
Also, some people have driven around the area looking for any signs of Him.

He is a bi-lateral amputee— wears prosthetics on the lower half of both legs. He had a stroke a couple years ago, which makes it possible that his health may play a part in his missing (that’s a stretch but still a possibility).

I’m unsure if anyone has called the local hospitals in and around the Lincoln area.

If you see him, please reach out to the Lincoln, NH Police Department.

He is an incredible human and we need to find him…we all just want to make sure he is safe.

Heads up!

This time of year is the worst for Hornets & ground bees & yellow jackets on the trail.

Check the comments on farout for bee/yellow jacket/hornet activity on trail.
Add a comment of your own to warn fellow hikers if you come across any stinging devils….

This particular hornet nest is at the trailhead at Va 100 (aka narrows road aka Cemetery Parking) in Pearisburg, Va.
Trail maintainers have been notified of it and so far they have added a warning sign until they’re able to remove the nest safely.

One more reason to use the FarOut app when hiking. Check the comments for updates on bees/hornets & bears as well as water sources.

What can’t this woman do!??

Jimni is such a great person to have around. Whether it’s fixing the lawnmower, doing plumbing work or painting a mural ….she can do it all!
We are so fortunate to have her on the team here.
