Maple Grove Park is very fortunate to have a camping family with traditions that cover the world. Their menus are extensive and varied, and after our international event a few years ago, we know this as fact…which leads us into thoughts about this holiday season. Besides our menus, we celebrate in so many ways: Christmas trees, Midnight Mass, Hanukkah candles, Yule logs, Santa, carols, cards, get-togethers, giving, and no matter who we are or what we believe, the list goes on and on. What wonderful gifts of tradition are shared by our Maple Grove Park family.

Maple Grove Park wishes its family of campers a very Happy Thanksgiving. Maple Grove Park will always be thankful for the true family spirit of our little campground along the banks of the Suncook River.

As Pete and Terrie are cleaning her up, Maple Grove Park is nodding away for a long winter’s sleep. In her dreams she sees the park’s children learning lots in school and making many new friends. Of course, at the same time she’s thinking of what the park will be bringing when spring rolls around. The playground is lonely, but in its dreams can picture all its pals having fun together. Maple Grove is also dreaming of the campfires and BBQs. There are dreams of the gang coming to the beach for the first swim and some games. Oh, and don’t forget Paul with his daily swim and newspaper. The rec hall can’t wait until the TV is going again, the smells from the grill are tantalizing passers-by, the ping pong balls are hopping away and the pool table is offering challenges. The horseshoe pit, too, is asleep, but just wait! Those shoes will be flying back and forth as soon as Maple Grove opens her eyes.
When spring finally arrives, Maple Grove Park will awaken to all her old friends and some new ones too. Her smile will be seen from miles and miles away.
*Just the best family of campers any park could ask for!

The final weekend at Maple Grove Park was certainly a busy one. Lots of assistance was seen between all the sites around the park. Bucky was especially busy helping his fellow campers get ready for the upcoming snowy season when our little park takes a long nap. Ronny and Alan decided to test the waters of the Suncook River with a quick chilly October dip while Paul Sr., Terry and I looked on. Brrr! Meanwhile, some of our sweet children and their parents were walking, or perhaps driving, around the park for a last look at their summer headquarters. Ron P., however, was just resting. A campground is only as great as its family, so that’s why Maple Grove Park, Inc. is the BEST!

Lots of busy campers were at their sites getting ready for the closing of the season. However, one of our faithful campers was taking in some last minute fishing. Everyone at the park was preparing for the final weekend coming up. It was so gratifying to notice campers helping each other, even preparing absent friends' RVs and sites for the winter. During the day, a group was watching the Sunday football game at the rec hall with a delicious BBQ and a celebration of Mark's birthday. A few of our children hitched a ride to the swings. What a great family of campers!

A bit chilly at Maple Grove Park today, but still campers were visiting while others were spending time at a favorite spot, the horseshoe pit. A few children spent time on the swings and others were just relaxing at their camp fires. Plans were being made to enjoy some good cooking and the games tomorrow at our rec hall. One camper was spotted at the Deerfield Fair.
I made a visit to the fairgrounds where it was difficult to maneuver in any direction; the crowds were so deep one would think it was the most important NFL game of the season. I had to really keep in mind where I was parked since there were vehicles as far as the eye could see.

Yup, the season is definitely coming to a close. This is truly sad, but (!!!) there is still time to enjoy a wonderful New England Indian summer. The Suncook River loves to offer its waters to anyone who wants to paddle up and down observing its wildlife and natural beauty. It's even warm enough for a few swims here and there. Even if you don't happen to be on or in the water, there's just the peace and quiet of sitting at your camp to note each morning a visitor coming for her daily drink from the clean waters our river offers.

What a great time we had at Maple Grove Park on Saturday at our TACO FIESTA! A simple menu was planned of tacos, refried beans and rice. But…as usual, our great campers brought all sorts of Mexican dishes, and the tables were overflowing with mouthwatering food. As always, it would not have been such a success without the help of Pat and Terrie. The campers had fun laughing and chatting all through the meal while Mexican party music made everything more festive.
After the food was served, the children lined up for a battering of a pinata in the form of a shark. Pretty soon the shark was split open and out poured all sorts of party favors and candy. What fun to watch the children sift through the little treasures.
Definitely a day to remember!

Saturday, August 21st, Normand and his family hosted his famous corn husking event. At 7:30 A.M. on Saturday, Normand could be found picking absolutely fresh corn from Farmer John’s field for our campers to enjoy. Besides the corn, he made his famous macaroni salads and brought the ingredients for us to put together a fresh salad. Everyone participated in each phase of the get together. Joyce made creative sugar cookies in the shapes of ears of corn. Ron did the husking, and a crew worked at the barbecuing of hamburgers, hot dogs and sausages. Watermelon was a refreshing ending for our palates.
After everyone had their fill, Alan and company cleaned the grill until it was like new—power washing and oiling.

It was a very warm Saturday, which meant lots of beach goers were anxious for a cool swim in the clean waters of the Suncook River. It was a day of fun and remembrance. Our campground has shared so many memories—happy and sad. The beautiful spirit of our park is that we have shared the happy and the sad together as a family. Nick celebrated his hmmm 30th birthday. Along with birthday wishes, Jose and friend showed up with a cupcake and the traditional birthday song.
Balloons were released in memory of Amy, a beautiful young woman taken way too soon to her eternal rest. Each year her family gives a memorial for her, and many of our campers are there to support Amy’s family. The kindred spirit exhibited by Maple Grove Park’s campers is inspiring.
