Fall is here and we are embracing it — loudly, joyfully, and with the exact amount of chaos you’d expect from me on the first day of autumn.

I took one step outside this morning, felt that crisp Finger Lakes air hit my face, and immediately launched myself into the nearest pumpkin patch like a feral little fall creature.
Hair everywhere. Boots dusty. Heart doing cartwheels.
Pumpkins in every direction and me absolutely losing it in the best way.

There’s something about the first day of fall here… it hits different.
The light softens, the hills glow, and suddenly everything feels a little more possible, a little more beautiful, a little more home.

Back at the inn, the windows are cracked open, the rooms feel warmer, and the whole place is settling into its favorite season — that cozy, golden, heart‑full Finger Lakes autumn we wait for all year.

Fall is here.

There are moments on the lake that don’t feel like business.
They feel like you’re being invited into someone’s story — quietly, gently, like Keuka itself is holding its breath.

A few weeks ago, Justin and Brittney stepped onto our 1965 Coronado with Keuka Boat Tours, carrying a plan he had been holding in his heart for months. The timing, the spot on the water, the stillness, the hope that Keuka would give them a window of calm… all of it lined up in a way that still gives me chills.

And now, seeing these engagement photos…
It’s like reliving the moment all over again.
The softness.
The joy.
The way the Coronado held them in that golden light, as if it knew something sacred was happening.

Our guests just checked out after an extended long weekend, and they left with full hearts, big smiles, and stories they’ll be talking about for a long time. A huge part of that joy came from the incredible businesses right here in our Penn Yan community.

They had four legs… but they carried the weight of the world.

On 9/11, while sirens screamed and the sky fell into ash, our K9 heroes ran toward the devastation.
No hesitation. No fear.
Just loyalty so fierce it could break your heart.

They searched the rubble for survivors.
They comforted the injured.
They stood beside their handlers in the darkest hours our country has ever known.
And they kept going — long after their paws were raw and their lungs burned.

These dogs didn’t wear badges or uniforms.
They didn’t speak our language.
But they understood the assignment:
Find the living. Honor the fallen. Stay until the work is done.

Today, we remember our four‑legged heroes — the search‑and‑rescue dogs, the comfort dogs, the service dogs, the silent guardians who gave everything they had without ever asking for anything in return.

Because bravery doesn’t always walk on two legs.
