This week we went for a drive and that gave us the opportunity to stop in at "Spotted Duck Creamery" to taste their frozen custard. We had been wanting to do this for a while now. Fortunately it isn't far from us: a quick turn onto Clinton Street (Route 54) and we arrived in a matter of minutes. The ice cream is delicious! We decided to share a single kiddie cone and agreed upon trying Raspberry Truffle. It was absolutely wonderful, flavorful and creamy. We can't wait to get back to Spotted Duck soon -- certain we will each have our own cones next time.

This weekend we had guests who were married earlier that day. Both are theater people. The bride hand-crafted centerpieces for all the tables at the reception out of recycled books from thrift shops. The books, appropriately, were old Shakespeare plays! They gave us one of the Shakespeare bouquets -- so pretty! We wish them the best!

Working on getting the gardens in order. The weather this year has made a tremendous difference (lots of rain and sun). Our hydrangea has grown maybe four feet and is now covered with blossoms. About three years ago we bought a terracotta Buddha from Elizabeth Gilbert's store "Two Buttons" just before it closed down. We tucked Buddha under the hydrangea where he seemed quite content. Now he's entirely enveloped by the burgeoning shrub and we're wondering just how much of a role he played in creating this white and green grotto. (Two views.)
