Story Time!!
I’m originally from East Providence, Rhode Island. When I was a little girl, my father was the City solicitor & stopped the Looff Carousel in Riverside from being torn down. In appreciation, he was gifted a replica of the carousel made of candy. (I may have gotten in trouble for stealing a few gum drops when I thought no one was looking. 😜)
I didn’t understand the significance of what he did at the time… but my dad loved making memories and the carousel held the memories of so many people. I’ve ridden this carousel many times over the years… as have my children. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve started to appreciate these things much more. My father taught me to appreciate the quality of things made by hand. He would have absolutely LOVED this beautiful old house. He would have also loved our decision to reopen this Bed & Breakfast and continue to share the warmth of this home and our own unique & thoughtful hospitality.
As Father’s Day approaches… I appreciate more than ever that my father taught me to cherish the important things in life. Things like family, friendship, loyalty, laughter, good food,…. and good wine.
Salute Dad. Thank you for always reminding me to make memories. 🍷
