The Keuka Cove House Chronicles – Episode 1 🏡🐾

Peak season is here… which means the prep never really ends. 😅

Meet the stars of The Keuka Cove House Chronicles:

🐶 Jeb — the real boss around here. Quality inspector. Professional nitpicker. Josh’s alter ego constantly saying: “One more thing before guests arrive…”

👨‍🔧 Josh — owner of the Keuka Cove House, doing everything possible behind the scenes to create the best guest experience possible.

This series is a fun behind-the-scenes look at the projects, prep work, last-minute scrambling, and little details that go into getting the Keuka Cove House ready for every guest.

Check-in tomorrow. Game on. 💪

A couple days ago, we shared some stories of Jeb putting in the work getting this back deck ready for our first summer guests of the season. 🐾☀️

Today, we officially wrapped up the majority of our back deck transformation, with just some final staging, decorating, and finishing touches left to complete before summer officially kicks off this weekend.

This space will serve as the entryway to our newest space — Unit 4.

The refreshed deck now features comfortable seating areas for gathering and relaxing, along with some new games guests can enjoy, including oversized Connect Four and Ring Swing while spending time out on the back deck.

From weathered and worn to fresh, clean, and ready for lake season — this project came a long way, and we’re really proud of how it turned out.

Planning for a smaller group? When dates allow, we may be able to customize your stay with flexible space options, including studio units, a four-bedroom unit with kitchen, or a two-bedroom unit.

Crunch time at the Keuka Cove House.

This off-season wasn’t about big, flashy upgrades. It was about putting in the work. Cleaning things up, tackling more landscaping than expected, and getting the property to a place we’re proud of, one step (& can of paint) at a time.

The KCH opened in September 2025, so this will be our first full summer on Keuka Lake. There’s still a bigger vision ahead, and it’ll take a few seasons to get there; but this year was about focusing on the fundamentals and getting the place ready to welcome guests.

Simple, clean, and ready for lake days, quiet mornings, and time well spent with family and friends.

Looking forward to what’s ahead and to hosting you this summer.

Swipe to see what the site supervisor has planned…

With warmer weather finally here, Jeb (site supervisor) has officially moved the team outdoors. 🐾

Next up: the exterior.

We’ve started tackling the front and back porches — sanding, repairing, and getting everything prepped for a full refresh. All shutters have been removed and are currently being refurbished and repainted before going back up.

We’ve also brought in some additional help — the Penn Yams Boys Construction crew… who, in their own words, are “a couple of nerds who are really good at polishing turds.”

Safe to say, all hands are on deck.

Plan for the weekend: give the house a much-needed bath, then begin painting the decks and bringing everything back together.

Big transformation loading…

Swipe to see the progress.

Continuing the work from the bedroom and hallway, the bathroom in this same section of the home was next.

Like the rest of the space, the walls and trim needed attention — especially around the window and door frames, which had seen years of wear.

We spent time restoring the plaster walls, refinishing the window trim, and cleaning up the details that really make the space feel complete.

The goal throughout this first season of renovations in this portion of the home has been consistency — creating a cohesive look and feel across this entire entryway.

This area is being thoughtfully designed to function as its own separate space within the home, allowing guests to gather together while also having the flexibility to retreat into more private areas when needed.

It’s the small details that make the biggest difference.

More updates to come.

Swipe to see the progress.

After completing the first bedroom, it only made sense to carry that same refresh into the space just outside of it.

The hallway had great bones, but needed some brightening and attention to detail to match the newly renovated room.

We took the time to freshen up the walls and trim, refasten sections of the original wallpaper ceiling, and bring everything together so the space flows cleanly from one room to the next.

Sometimes it’s not about a full transformation — it’s about refining what’s already there and making it feel intentional.

More updates to come.

Swipe to see the progress.

We owe you all an update.

Apologies for the delay — the hands have been very busy.

Over the past few months, we’ve been focused on renovations and bringing new life into different parts of the property, which hasn’t left much time to share progress along the way.

This is one of the first new rooms we’ve completed since shutting down for the winter — the first bedroom of many that will be renovated over the next couple of years.

As part of this renovation, we’ve made a conscious effort to preserve as much of the original character of the home as possible. Rather than fully demoing and replacing, we worked with the existing plaster walls — restoring and refinishing them to bring the space back to life while maintaining its original integrity.

This will be one of several updates we’ll be sharing.

Another day, another battle with wallpaper and plaster. 🛠️

At the Keuka Cove House, one of our core goals is to preserve as much of the home’s original character as possible. Instead of tearing everything down and starting fresh, we’re choosing to work with what’s here — refurbishing, repairing, and restoring wherever we can to honor the history and craftsmanship of this old house.

That commitment definitely comes with its challenges. Old wallpaper, plaster ceilings, hidden layers from decades past… it’s not always easy, and it’s definitely not quick. But every crack filled, every layer removed, and every detail saved is part of keeping the soul of this place intact.

Progress isn’t always pretty, but it’s happening. And it’s worth it. 🏠 ✨
