IMPORTANT: Beach access opens to public for limited time. Checkpoint returns at sunset.

Santa Rosa Island Authority states: We are removing the checkpoint for Pensacola Beach for the remainder of the day. Beginning at sunset today, the checkpoint will be reinstated, and access to the island will be limited to residents and business owners during the nightime hours.

As recovery efforts continue, many residential areas remain without power.

We ask that everyone limit trips to Pensacola Beach to essential travel only to help ensure the safety of our residents and allow recovery efforts to continue.

โ“๐Ÿš—"When will the bridges close?" is one of the most frequently asked questions ahead of a storm.

Since road and bridge closures are weather dependent, unfortunately we aren't able to predict with certainty when closures will happen.

Law enforcement will make the decision to close a bridge when conditions become unsafe, or when sustained winds (not gusts) reach 39 mph or higher. Keep in mind that just because one bridge is closed does not mean that all bridges are closed.

When bridge closures happen, they will be announced as soon as possible. Stay tuned to local media outlets, myescambia.com, and our page for updates.
