'From the Ground Up' Community Garden, located in Downtown Pensacola, is a project of Innisfree Hotels corporate social responsibility program, The Hive. Here in our garden, we're planting more than vegetables. We’re planting a chance for kids and their parents to grow healthy foods that will sustain their bodies, as well as their minds.

🌿💚 05.31.2026 ~

Last Sunday, Mary Dee & Selest had a lovely gathering. The garden has only become a better place because of their presence! 🌻

They have both come and helped (volunteered), and each of them has even taught a bit in their own way—Selest, in demand as we awaited another group at an event, and Mary Dee with Rising Minds’ “Garden & Gut.” 🌱✨ They have also served food in garden pop ups several times! 🥮🍜

They have come and gone… in and out of my life and the garden space, so I have confidence in saying, “Best Wishes & See Ya’ll Again Soon” as they prepare to make their journey East. 🚗☀️

Sending with you lots of love, appreciation, and gratitude for all you’ve shared with us. 💚🌿

💯 We had a fabulous evening in the garden with Chef Jen Knight of End of the Line Cafe doing a demo for our Chef in the Garden series. Jen used the griddle to create cornmeal battered green tomatoes & collard greens from the garden. Brilliant Demo! ~~> Will share more pics, videos and the recipes very soon. Thanks to Jen for the demo and the Pensacola Vegan group, specifically Jessica and Meghan for bringing us together for the potluck ! Can’t wait to host this again! And thanks to the people who “communitied” with us. Is there any way you haven’t yet been to End of Line Cafe? ~ if so please head over. I circled my “go to” on the menu ~ but I also always get the Mac & Cheese.

Jen, of End of the Line, was in the garden yesterday with her daughter Stella and Doug was visiting too! Jen was scanning for garden items she can use in her “Chef in the Garden” demo tomorrow. Hope to see you at the vegan potluck! 🍽️☕️ Side note: We will have some disposable plates, cups, and cutlery available, but we’d love to encourage everyone to begin bringing their own place setting when possible. Just rinse it, pack it up, and take it home with you to help us reduce waste and shift away from disposables. Of course, no pressure — you do you. 😊

See ya in the garden 💙🩵💙
