"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. I did not wish to live what was not life, living is so dear; nor did I wish to practice resignation, unless it was quite necessary. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life..."

The BuffaloHead Cabin is a unique sanctuary from the craziness of our modern plight. Located at the Headwaters of the Buffalo National River situated above Big Buffalo Creek and Knuckles Creek and bordering the Ozark National Forest and the extensive Upper Buffalo Trails, this is a taste of pure wildness. The cabin is hand built like a traditional Ozark Mountain cabin using salvaged logs milled onsite with an extremely low carbon footprint. Not connected to the electric grid, the cabin has a solar electric system, with a 100 gallon tank of spring water and a small wood burning stove. We supply firewood and can provide wifi if requested.

Our guests love it here. Many find solace, sanctuary and regeneration from the sometimes harsh conditions of modern life. Kids explore and play games. We gladly welcome pets and many owners find dog comfort and bliss in this natural protected environment. Dogs love the connected Upper Buffalo Trails. Some owners report rejuvenation and excitement of older dogs. We're all about Nature. If you love Nature and want to enjoy basic living, this is the place for you. We love our guests and are absolutely thrilled when they find joy and release in our cabin retreat.
