Fall colors have been beautiful at Up Nort’ Retreat. Leaves are falling and temperatures are dropping, reminding us that winter is soon approaching.

Up Nort’ underwent another improvement. Our new kitchen windows were installed last week and they are beautiful! Thank you to Setter Lane Glass from Eagle River! We will complete our 3 year plan for new windows with the remaining rooms being updated in 2026.

I had to include photos of the colors in our yard and a last look at North Twin Lake before freezing temps transform flowing water into a frozen winter playground.

I want to highlight a photo taken from the lake side park in Phelps looking toward the north end of North Twin Lake. The view is stunning! Big Twin Vintage is just down the road and is a fun destination, offering unique finds for gift giving or your home.

Another beautiful summer Up Nort’! We had a
few jobs to complete but found time to enjoy the beauty of the lake and wildflowers on our shoreline. Weather over the weekend was unusually warm, but our newest granddaughter, Eve, was still able to enjoy her first pontoon ride thanks to the motion of the pontoon on the water and a cooling breeze. Perennials planted last year in our new living boulder walls have emerged and look healthy.

We enjoyed a fish fry meal and cocktail at Bent’s camp in Land of Lakes north of us. It offers beautiful lakeside seating and there are always friendly people to visit with. We have openings starting Labor Day weekend. Fall is an equally beautiful time of year to stay in the northwoods.

We are ready for summer fun and our summer guests! The dock is in, the swing is hung and firewood is ready for a cool evening campfire.

The Winter season is practically over. We are going to spend the next couple of months painting and preparing for our Summer guests. We are grateful that our Summer weekly rentals are all booked. We have a few open days in late May and Early June providing an opportunity to book at "off peak" rates with a three day minimum stay required. Check the attached calendar. Snowlovers, do we have your attention yet? These are photos from previous years. We are excited for the first big snowfall hopefully soon to come! The northwoods transforms into a winter wonderland. We have been busy since our last post. New windows have been installed in the family room and lower level large bedroom. It is a relief to have this done and they look wonderful! Deep cleaning is done, summer items are stored safely in the shed and guide poles for winter snowmobile guests are in.

We can't miss an opportunity to show you the beauty of the Northwoods in the fall. The colors are stunning. We could fill several pages with photos but tried to restrain ourselves.

We also enjoyed the northern lights, the cool sometimes brisk air and smells of autumn. Winter is just around the corner!

Please enjoy the photos and consider us for a Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Year's stay. We are also looking forward to snowmobile guests. We enjoy being your hosts!

Summer is winding down. These photos are from our stay in Mid August. The pontoon was out on the water as much as we were able. One day of lake swimming was also enjoyed with mirror smooth water!

We are grateful to our guests; our management company, Stepaway Vacation Rentals and our excellent cleaning staff.

We have openings this fall but have blocked out some dates for new window finishing and installation in two rooms. Our plan is to replace all the windows over the next 2-3 years.

We are ready for Summer and our guests! New grass seeding is coming up, perennials are planted, lakeside swing is hung, painting touch up is completed, flagstone sidewalk extension is laid and walkway lights are in. We also installed a new property/business sign as the old one was taken down by a fallen tree.

We look forward to this summer and hope our guests enjoy our home and the many activities around North Twin Lake/Phelps as much as we do. We had a recent cancellation due to health issues in a family which opened two weeks in our bookings: July 26 through August 2 and August 2 through August 9. Labor Day weekend is also available. Getting ready for summer! Ice and snow are gone! Last year North Twin Lake had ice cover until May first. Our dock is in! Up Nort' Retreat is perfectly situated on North Twin Lake, within Nicolet National Forest. We invite you to stay at our beautiful, fully equipped home as you sit lakeside and relax or enjoy the many summer activities available in the Northwoods.

Bookings for the summer are almost full. However, as of this date we have weekly openings for August 2-9. Beginning August 23, three day minimum stays are available. Just a little over one week until Christmas! The hustle and bustle of the season is fun but also exhausting. We invite you to unwind and relax at our home, Up Nort' Retreat. Enjoy the peaceful beauty of the Northwoods. You can stay snuggled in our warm home or venture outside. If you do not snowmobile, there are plenty of other activities. We have a slope down to the lake that is great for sledding. How about ice fishing on North Twin Lake? Explore surrounding hiking/snowshoeing trails. For a unique experience, sleigh rides are available at Haven Pines, located 5 miles west of Eagle River. Lack of snow? No problem! They offer wagon rides instead.
