From one chapter to the next, certain spaces hold the moments that matter most.

An engagement. A growing family. The quiet in-between.

At Guild House, we’re honored to be part of it all, again and again.

Because the most meaningful stays aren’t just about where you go, but what unfolds while you’re there 💛

Not every woman remembered in history held public office or appeared in textbooks...

Some worked quietly behind the scenes.

Some spoke boldly in pursuit of change.

And they all built community through gathering, conversations, and the spaces they shared together.

The New Century Guild was filled with women like these, women whose lives, work, and relationships shaped the spirit of this place many years ago.

These photographs offer a small glimpse into those lives, and into the community that once existed within these walls.

Today, Guild House continues that legacy as a place rooted in women’s history, thoughtful gathering, and the stories that unfold quietly over time.

Some rooms hold history. This one carries a legacy ✨

The Eliza Suite is named for Eliza Sproat Turner, founder of the New Century Guild and a woman known for taking on “life and its problems,” especially when it came to supporting others.

At a time when independent working women had little support, she created something rare: a place of education, community, and respite.

Today, that spirit lives on here 🗝️

Set in what was once the Guild’s library, the suite reflects Eliza’s love of learning, nature, and quiet refuge. Layers of green, botanical details, and soft textures create a space that feels both grounding and restorative, with a touch of wonder.

A stay at Guild House is more than a place to land. It’s a chance to step into a story that still lingers within these walls.

Last month, we found a note that a guest left behind after checking out…

Alongside it was a single rose, placed in remembrance of Gabrielle de Veaux Clements and the women who helped shape the New Century Guild.

Moments like this remind us how deeply these legacies are still felt, and how meaningful it is to see them honored in such thoughtful ways.

“Staying overnight in Philly when you live in the city’s burbs is very fun. My sons and I enjoyed a great stay at the Guild House in December. Located perfectly to great restaurants, bars, and the theaters, the hotel is a perfect respite from ordinary accommodations you often find in big cities.

The buildings history is fascinating. We stayed in the Alice Suite; allowing for plenty of space for to relax.

The baths are deluxe, the kitchenette is well stocked and the bed was amazingly comfy.

Hats off to those who brought back Guild House; another great chapter in Philly history rejuvenated.”

The story of Guild House has always been about giving people a place to gather.

Earlier this year, we had the joy of welcoming this wonderful group of longtime friends who have been traveling the world together for more than 50 years.

Their story is a beautiful reminder of what it means to share time, place, and good company 💛
