Buona Festa di San Giuseppe!!! March 19th marks the feast day of St. Joseph & Fatherโ€™s Day in Italy. Happy name day to all the Josephโ€™s out there and a Happy Fatherโ€™s Day as well โค๏ธ

We are getting closer to being able to gather again. Please be smart & say a prayer to St. Joseph to protect all of us and so we CAN gather, sooner than later.

There is a small prayer service following 8AM Mass at Mother of Divine Grace Church of St John Paul II Parish, today, for the Litany of Saint Joseph.

With the Feast of San Giuseppe a few days away, here, is something that you may be interested in attending, tonight.

This happened last night. Remember, this is a huge part of our culture. Please see the contact info, to voice your opinions. Please be tactful when doing so, and donโ€™t resort to a lower level, but stand your ground and state how the Italian American community has habitually, been under attack from this administration.

7 January:
Happy Tricolor Day!!! Today, is the flag day of Italy. Celebrated on January 7, it was established by Law 671 on December 31, 1996. It is intended as a celebration, though not a public holiday. The official celebration of the day is held in Reggio Emilia, the city where the Italian tricolor was first adopted by an Italian sovereign state, the Cispadane Republic, on January 7, 1797.

Buon Epifania!!! Did La Befana cone to visit you, overnight? She left me some oranges ๐ŸŠ.
According to legend, La Befana leaves sweets and gifts for Italyโ€™s well-behaved children (and coal for the naughty ones) every year, on January 5, the eve of the Feast of the Epiphany. Unlike Santa Claus, she is properly scary, an old crone with a huge nose who swoops up misbehaving kids and takes them home to her children-guzzling husband. Like Santa, she enters and exits via the chimney. As a dedicated housekeeper, she is never without her broomstick, which she uses to sweep away the problems of the year in every home she visits or wallop anyone who catches sight of her in the flesh.

This next take on her legend, is so sad.
In a somber version of the Befana legend, she is a woman whose much loved baby dies. Consumed with grief, she goes in search of Jesus, convinced that he is her lost child. He is thrilled with her gifts and, in light of her goodness, makes her the mother of every child in Italy.

The country holds festivals in her honor every January, attracting huge crowds eager to celebrate the much-loved Christmas Witch.
