Clearwater Campground

Clearwater Campground Our campground is privately owned. We lease our lot's by the year. one or two campers per lot.

After a lot of consideration, we have decided to reschedule the get together on June 13th. The new date will be on Friday, July 3rd. We're hoping that the holiday weekend will allow for a bigger turnout. Our apologies to anyone who made plans to attend the event on the 13th and hope you understand. Looking at the extended forecast, we might have been dodging rain/ storms.

The new details:

The campground will be providing the pork steaks and hot dogs for kids, paper products, utensils and bottled water.

We are asking our campers to volunteer to bring a side dish or dessert.

Side dishes and desserts should be brought to the gathering place near the barn by 5:30 p.m. and we are planning for dinner from 6:00 - 7:00. Dinner will be followed by some door prizes, ending at 7:30.

The hayrides will begin at 7:30 along with music provided by Chad. Those planning on participating in the hayride, be advised that an adult must accompany all children due to insurance purposes.

We are guessing that the music and hayrides will be finishing up around 10-10:30.

Fireworks will only be permitted between 8:00 and 11:00 on SATURDAY, JULY 4th. Feel free to light your "sparklers" at your campsite Friday and Saturday, but NOTHING with sound other than during that designated time on Saturday night.

Dee and I will be going around to each campsite this coming Friday and leaving a flyer containing all the information posted here. At the bottom of the flyers, please indicate your number of adults and children that plan on attending the event so we can order the food. Those completed flyers can be dropped off at the guest registration booth near the barn or dropped in the brown mailbox sitting next to the satellite dish at my gate.

Those who will not be at camp prior to the holiday, feel free to leave a comment on your site's adults and kids. Let's try avoiding posting the information in the comments unless you are one of those that won't be able to fill out their flyers.

THIS EVENT IS FOR OUR CAMPERS AND THEIR INVITED GUESTS ONLY. IT IS NOT OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

Thanks in advance and we look forward to seeing many of you over the holiday weekend.

Paul

We are in the early stages of planning our Fall event which will consist of another pot luck dinner and a Wayne County Scavenger Hunt. :) Once we get past the 4th, I will reach out on our page to get some suggestions for dates.

I planned one of these for SWB about 40 years ago and it was a heck of a lot of fun! That was back in the day (pre cell phones) and each time was required to bring an instant camera to show proof they accomplished some of their tasks related to the scavenger hunt. Stay tuned!

Seeing as there isn't the potential for a good turn out on the June 13th pot luck. We are considering trying it on Friday, July 3rd. Most are off that Friday with the holiday. We could also do it on that Saturday the 4th.

We realize our campers plan their holiday weekends well in advance and don't want to impede on those plans.

Keep in mind it would be just the dinner and Hay Ride.

Fireworks will be allowed from 7 pm. until 10 pm. on Saturday ONLY (and that is only if we are allowed by the county officials who decide based on drought conditions).

We are asking for thoughts and opinions.

Thanks

The make-up date for our get together at the campground will be on Saturday, June 13th. We will be providing pork steaks for the adults and hot dogs for the younger kids.

The time for the event will be:

Dinner from 6:30 - 7:30 followed by hayrides for the kids until about 9:00

It's important that we have a count for the number of people attending by the morning of Monday the 8th so we can order the right amount of food. We will be providing plates, napkins, utensils and bottled water.

We are asking campers to bring a side dish or dessert and that those be dropped off by 6:00.

If you can, please note in the comments the number of kids and adults as well as the dish you plan on bringing so we don't have everyone bringing the same dish.

Stay tuned for more details and pray for decent weather.

Paul

Please remember that this is an event for campers and their invited guests ONLY.

Guest registration forms will be at the station near my campsite by noon on Friday. Please remember to fill them out, even those just visiting for the day.

Also, make sure your guests are familiar with the campground rules, including the 10 MPH speed limit, leash laws and quiet hour.

I will post a copy of the rules tomorrow when I stock the forms.

Happy Memorial Day to all of our campers with friends and family who were lost while in service to our country. And a big thank you to all who served or are currently serving. Your service is appreciated!!

If anyone needs anything, the best way to contact me from 9 - 6 (Saturday - Monday) is at the marina (573-223-7224). If my vehicle is parked at my site, it usually means I am home. If you need something and I am home, please honk your horn and I will meet you at the gate. The dogs are friendly but ill-mannered. ;)

Hoping everyone has a safe and fun holiday weekend.

Paul

Happy 78th birthday to my sister Julie ;)

They have recently updated today's forecast and added a chance of severe storms around noon. The future radar looks pretty ugly around that time so just a heads up to our campers. We looked great when I woke up early this morning so who knows... that forecast can change on a dime.

The marina will be closed today but calls are forwarded here to the camper.

They are recommending a water boil order once the water is back to normal. Not sure how long this will go but will post once I receive the information. My guess is that it will last through the current weekend.

Spread the word if you know a fellow camper that may not use Facebook.

Thanks!

Water pressure is low and some campers have no water at all. We have reported the issue to the water company. This is not related to the issue we had last evening. I will keep everyone posted as more information becomes available.

Thanks to those who have reached out to us to let us know.

Water is back on and the line is repaired.

Thanks!

7:40 PM Thursday 5/14

Water had to be temporarily shut off while repairs are being made to a line. This will impact sites #110 & higher.

I will post on the page when it's back on.
