After a lot of consideration, we have decided to reschedule the get together on June 13th. The new date will be on Friday, July 3rd. We're hoping that the holiday weekend will allow for a bigger turnout. Our apologies to anyone who made plans to attend the event on the 13th and hope you understand. Looking at the extended forecast, we might have been dodging rain/ storms.
The new details:
The campground will be providing the pork steaks and hot dogs for kids, paper products, utensils and bottled water.
We are asking our campers to volunteer to bring a side dish or dessert.
Side dishes and desserts should be brought to the gathering place near the barn by 5:30 p.m. and we are planning for dinner from 6:00 - 7:00. Dinner will be followed by some door prizes, ending at 7:30.
The hayrides will begin at 7:30 along with music provided by Chad. Those planning on participating in the hayride, be advised that an adult must accompany all children due to insurance purposes.
We are guessing that the music and hayrides will be finishing up around 10-10:30.
Fireworks will only be permitted between 8:00 and 11:00 on SATURDAY, JULY 4th. Feel free to light your "sparklers" at your campsite Friday and Saturday, but NOTHING with sound other than during that designated time on Saturday night.
Dee and I will be going around to each campsite this coming Friday and leaving a flyer containing all the information posted here. At the bottom of the flyers, please indicate your number of adults and children that plan on attending the event so we can order the food. Those completed flyers can be dropped off at the guest registration booth near the barn or dropped in the brown mailbox sitting next to the satellite dish at my gate.
Those who will not be at camp prior to the holiday, feel free to leave a comment on your site's adults and kids. Let's try avoiding posting the information in the comments unless you are one of those that won't be able to fill out their flyers.
THIS EVENT IS FOR OUR CAMPERS AND THEIR INVITED GUESTS ONLY. IT IS NOT OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
Thanks in advance and we look forward to seeing many of you over the holiday weekend.
Paul
We are in the early stages of planning our Fall event which will consist of another pot luck dinner and a Wayne County Scavenger Hunt. :) Once we get past the 4th, I will reach out on our page to get some suggestions for dates.
I planned one of these for SWB about 40 years ago and it was a heck of a lot of fun! That was back in the day (pre cell phones) and each time was required to bring an instant camera to show proof they accomplished some of their tasks related to the scavenger hunt. Stay tuned!
