We are planning our Fall campground event and many of you have requested to not have it scheduled the same day as the Heritage Festival in late October. We have settled on Saturday, October 3rd.

It's going to be a simple POT LUCK and hayride.

We will organize the trick or treating for the kids but wont be having a costume contest this year.

This is more of a SAVE THE DATE post as we are working out the details and will share them once we wrap up Labor Day weekend.

We realize that many of you have plans for the Fall season so this will be one of those events that we won't be able to reschedule due to weather or lack of interest/participation.

All we know for sure right now is that it will be an event starting in the late afternoon and wrapping up with an evening hayride.

Thanks!

This is the business of our campers John and Telesa Cook. They provided the hats that were given away as door prizes over the 4th of July event. Click on the link and it will take you to the page to view and order the hats.

We were informed by the water department that the water will be shut off on Monday, August 17th from 7:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.. They are also issuing a water boil order when it comes back on through Thursday, August 20th.

Plan ahead if you will be at camp during that time.

Thanks!

Jason is doing some gravel work on one of the sites. There will be a pile of gravel in the road around site #15. Work should be completed sometime in the morning. Just giving those down a heads up to drive around the pile for the time being.

Thanks.

A few people have reached out asking about the river levels at camp. The Black River has come down about 3 feet over the past few days but remains about 2 feet over where we would normally see in late July.

The lake is just about back at Summer Pool and nearly back to normal with it's clarity.

Next week, the Conservation Department is going to be working along the Black River below the dam. You make see a government vehicle or two at camp. They have been granted permission to access the river through the campground.

They will be working with the Corps office to control the spillway during their studies next week. Expect the river level to drop while the work is being done. This may last up to a week and should begin sometime Monday or Tuesday.

Jason has set up the ramp to allow people to walk onto the marina. We should be able to remove the plank by tomorrow morning.

If you are accessing the dock today, please use caution until it's a little safer.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

MARINA POST... Paul sent a text that people can now walk on to the Marina. There is a board there currently but it should be removed tomorrow.

Current lake level is 513.63 and we are dropping about 1.6 feet per day. We hope to be able to walk onto the marina sometime on Saturday. If I had to guess, it would be Saturday afternoon. The good news is anyone wanting to take their boat out past 6:00 should be able to do so beginning Saturday evening.

The photo is from this afternoon. As you can see, the lake is clearing up nicely but still some room to improve. Debris is continuing to clear up but use caution, especially if you are out there tubing this weekend. We are still 5+ feet over Summer Pool so you may not know what is just under the water when stopped to swim.

People can drive through from the lower parking lot to the upper lot where we continue to shuttle.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

MARINA POST:

The lake is currently dropping a foot every 18 hours.

We will likely have to pick up shuttles beginning sometime today in the upper part of the parking lot. To access the part of the lot currently out of water: Drive past the guard shack leading into Piedmont Park Campground. Turn right onto loop C and drive to the end. The barriers will be removed to allow people to enter the lot and park for a shuttle.

A reminder to our stall renters, if you are needing access to your boat after 2:00, try and give us a heads up ahead of time by calling the marina at 572-223-7224.

Our goal over the next few days is to work 9 until 2 or so unless a stall renters needs a shuttle. We waited a couple days last week without a single person needing a ride to their boat.

Thanks!

Paul
