68 degrees outside this morning… and we can finally feel it. 🍂🤎

There’s just the slightest hint of those crisp fall mornings we have come to know and love here in the Smokies. The kind of morning that makes you want to grab a warm cup of coffee, find a rocking chair by the river, and sit for a while as the world slowly wakes up around you. ☕️

The leaves may not have changed just yet, but fall is beginning to whisper that it’s on its way… and we are more than ready for cozy sweaters, cool mountain air, colorful leaves, evenings around the fire pit, and all the simple little things that make this season so special.

There is truly nothing quite like fall in Pigeon Forge. 🍁🏔️

We’re soaking up every last bit of this beautiful warm weather while we can.

There is just something peaceful about sitting beside the Little Pigeon River, listening to the water roll by, watching the ducks, and enjoying the shade beneath the trees. Before long, these green leaves will begin turning those beautiful shades of red, orange, and gold that make fall in the Smokies so special.

But for now, we’re holding onto these warm afternoons just a little longer. Grab a seat by the river, slow down, breathe in that mountain air, and enjoy one of those simple moments that make a stay at The Inn on the River feel like home.

Who else is ready for fall…but not quite ready to say goodbye to summer?

Today marks 25 years since September 11, 2001, and somehow even after all this time, the weight of that day is still difficult to put into words.

We remember the lives that were taken far too soon. We remember the families who said goodbye that morning without knowing it would be the last time. We remember the firefighters, police officers, first responders, military members, ordinary citizens, and countless brave souls who ran toward danger to help someone else.

We remember the fear and heartbreak, but we also remember something beautiful that rose from such unimaginable tragedy. We remember neighbors helping neighbors. Strangers comforting strangers. People praying together, holding one another a little tighter, and reminding us what it means to love one another.

Twenty five years have passed, but for so many families, the loss is not something measured in years. It is carried in birthdays, anniversaries, empty chairs, cherished photographs, and memories that remain forever close to the heart.

Today, may we honor those we lost not only by remembering how they died, but by remembering how they lived. May we choose kindness more freely, love one another more deeply, pray for one another more often, and never take a single day or a single person we love for granted.

May God continue to comfort every family whose heart was forever changed on September 11, 2001. May He bless the brave men and women who served that day and in the years that followed, and may He continue to watch over and bless our nation.

After more than 12 years of being such an important part of our Inn on the River family, our sweet Kathy is retiring. ❤️

Kathy has been with us since May of 2014, and saying that she will be missed does not even begin to cover it.

Over the years, we have been blessed not only to work alongside Kathy, but to have the honor of calling her our friend and, even more importantly, our family. So many of our longtime guests know Kathy by name, love her, and look forward to seeing her when they visit. She has spent years taking care of our guests, our team, and all of us behind the scenes in ways most people will never even know.

Around here, she will always be our tiny little Kathy, and we absolutely adore her. ❤️

Kathy has one of the kindest Christian hearts you could ever hope to know. She has cared for people, prayed for people, encouraged people, laughed with us, worried about us, and loved this Inn and the people in it like family. Her presence here is something that simply cannot be replaced.

As hard as it is for us to see her go, if anyone has earned the chance to slow down, relax, and enjoy retirement, it is Kathy. We know God has beautiful plans for this next chapter of her life, and spending her days with her husband and puppy near the lake sounds pretty wonderful to us. We certainly cannot fault her for that. ❤️

But before she goes, we want Kathy to see something.

If you have ever stayed with us and had an interaction with Kathy, worked with her, laughed with her, been helped by her, or simply have a special memory or story about her, PLEASE share it in the comments.

We want to fill this post with stories, memories, and love so Kathy can see just how many lives she has touched over the years and how very much she means to all of us.

Kathy, thank you for more than 12 years of love, loyalty, laughter, faith, friendship, and taking care of this crazy Inn on the River family.

You may be retiring from the The Inn, but you will never retire from being part of our family.

We love you, Tiny Kathy. ❤️
