🎶🦋 DOLLY LEFT US ONE FINAL SONG… BUT WE WON’T HEAR IT UNTIL 2046
There is still one Dolly Parton song that no fan has ever heard, and Dolly made sure it would stay that way until what would have been her 100th birthday. ❤️
According to ABC News, Dolly wrote and recorded a song titled “My Place in History” in 2015, the same year Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort opened. The recording was placed inside a chestnut box at the resort, with Dolly’s instructions that it remain sealed until January 19, 2046.
That date would have been Dolly’s 100th birthday.
And in true Dolly fashion, she thought ahead. ❤️
💿 The song is stored on a CD.
📻 Dolly even placed a CD player inside the box so whoever opens it in 2046 will hopefully still have something capable of playing the recording.
When Dolly wrote about the time capsule in 2020, she even entertained the possibility that she might live long enough to be there when it was opened.
Sadly, we now know that won’t happen.
But 20 years from now, on January 19, 2046, another piece of Dolly’s story is waiting to be discovered.
A voice we all recognize.
A song we’ve never heard.
And one final musical gift Dolly intentionally left behind for the future. 🦋🎶
I can only imagine what that moment will feel like when the box is finally opened at DreamMore and “My Place in History” is heard for the very first time.

The best laid plans…….
“Find a place with good composition and keep going back looking for magic” Bob Carr offer this piece of advice early on in my photography journey.
The Missing Link on the Foothills Parkway offers this “magical” setting any time of year but especially for Milky Way gazing.
But sometimes the forecast doesn’t understand the assignment. “No clouds” on a weather app only means “no clouds at the elevation we monitor”
Last night started full of promise but ended full of clouds in the way.
Oh well, we were there so I shot what we saw.

As guests continue to remember and honor Dolly Parton, Dollywood is already thinking about how her memory can have a permanent place inside the park she loved so much. ❤️
A temporary memorial has been established at Dollywood where guests can leave flowers and notes, but Dollywood President Eugene Naughton says the park plans to create a permanent place where generations of guests can remember its Dreamer-in-Chief.
While the final plans are still being developed, Naughton shared some early details—and they sound incredibly meaningful.
⛪ Because Dolly’s faith was such an important part of her life, Dollywood is considering incorporating the Robert F. Thomas Chapel into a permanent place of reflection.
💧 A new waterfall is planned for Craftsman’s Valley, designed to arch and curve toward the chapel. Naughton explained that water represents life, and he wants the area to provide a place where guests can reflect on Dolly and everything she represented.
🎸 A sculpted guitar with stained glass is also planned for the bottom of the nearby stream.
Perhaps the most powerful part of Naughton’s comments was his message that while Dolly may be gone, her presence at Dollywood isn’t going anywhere.
“She’s alive right here on this ground, and we’re carrying her forward.”
Naughton also said Dolly helped create Dollywood’s master plan through 2026 and emphasized that she will remain at the center of the park’s plans and future growth.
For a place that was so deeply connected to Dolly’s faith, family, music, dreams and love for the Smoky Mountains, creating a peaceful place where guests can stop and remember her feels incredibly fitting. 🦋

While the world continues to mourn the loss of Dolly Parton, her team has shared something incredibly meaningful: Dolly had been working right up until the end to make sure many of her dreams would continue to become reality. ❤️
According to her longtime manager, Danny Nozell, Dolly spent the past several years working alongside a team she personally selected to create a roadmap for projects that could continue for decades to come.
In his words, Dolly “loved seeing her dreams come to life, and loved knowing her work brought people joy.”
