Armed Forces Day has been celebrated on the 3rd Saturday in May each year since its establishment in 1949. Specifically we recognize the "country-before-self" spirit that keeps our nation strong, safe & free.

Army - the oldest & largest branch - BIRTHDAY: 6/14/1775, official song: The Army goes rolling along. Official motto: "This we'll defend"

Navy - 2nd oldest branch - BIRTHDAY: 10/13/1775, official song: Anchors Aweigh - No official motto, but unofficially "Not self, but country"

Marines - 3rd oldest branch - BIRTHDAY: 11/10/1775 Motto: "Semper Fidelis" - Official song: "The Marine's Hymn" - the oldest song of the Armed Forces

Air Force - was initially a subdivision of the Army, BIRTHDAY: 9/18/1947: Official motto: "Aim High..Fly-FIght-Win" - Official song: "Wild Blue Yonder"

Coast Guard - BIRTHDAY: 8/4/1790 the only branch outside the Dept of War - it operates under the Dept of Homeland Security (until wartime - then falls under the US Navy) Official motto: "Always Ready" - Official song: "Semper Paratus"

Space Force - the newest branch - BIRTHDAY: 12/20/2019. Known as "guardians" - it falls under the Air Force. - Official motto: "Always Above" - Official song: "Semper Supra"

As a nation, we recognize and honor our military who are true heroes, but today, we want to recognize another hero - one who too often goes unrecognized for their sacrifices. They do not serve in a uniform, but they are expected to keep their ServiceMember always focused on the military mission.

"Household 6, you are critical to our mission successes or failures - we couldn't do it without you. It is sometimes a hard life, but the strength of the military family is almost always found in the home."

Thank you for supporting not only your loved one in uniform, but supporting the mission they have been given each and every day. On behalf of the Hidden Meadows family, we would just like to say thanks for all you have done and that we see you and are grateful for all your silent sacrifices.

We had another fun-filled Labor Day weekend at Hidden Meadows! It's hard to believe we're done with holiday weekends for the year, but we have lots of good memories from each weekend.

Thank you to everyone that joined in on the fun! Congrats to Brock and Derek on the beanbag championship and to the Rankenburgs & Raymonds for their expertly decorated golf carts in our parade. Also, thank you for those that helped bring back an old tradition at Hidden Meadows. We had a blast with the Brown Bag Auction, which helped raise $525 that will be donated to the Pine Island American Legion, and Hidden Meadows is matching that donation.

We hope to see you all again for next year's festivities!

This past weekend, we had a very fun group join us at the park! They go by the name Greater Midwest Classics, which is a group of 1973-1978 GMC Motorhome owners and aficionados. You may recognize these as the "EM-50" they drive in the 1981 movie Stripes.

We enjoyed having them and hope they come back again. Here are a few pictures of the RVs!

It's been a week since we finished another wonderful Memorial Day weekend at Hidden Meadows, but we still wanted to show our appreciation for everyone who made it a special one. First, thank you to all of our campers who joined us for a beautiful weekend filled with so many memorable moments. Second, thank you to all of those who helped coordinate our events for bean bags, bingo, hay rides, and the memorial service. Lastly, thank you to all of those who have served in our military and a special thank you to Gary Gullickson for speaking at Sunday's Memorial service.

It was an excellent start to our summer camping season, and we're looking forward to many more fun weekends ahead for the 2025 season.
