Our area of the Hudson Valley boasts a myriad of hikes for everyone - from the seasoned mountaineering enthusiast to the casual day hiker and novice. This 3-mile loop hike up the eastern side of Pochuck Mountain starts on the grounds of our Bed and Breakfast at our old orchard. You'll pass homestead and barn ruins, creeks and quarries, Revolutionary Era rock walls, and follow an abandoned railroad as the trail winds its way up the mountain to two easterly overlooks. You'll be afforded views of Mount Adam and Mount Eve, Sugar Loaf, Goose Pond and Wawayanda Mountains. Continue beyond the overlooks 100 more feet to the summit, which boasts two mountain lakes for swimming, or just lazing the day away. Happening in Warwick and Orange County all summer:
Warwick Drive In Movie - Double feature, every night on 3 screens.
Sugar Loaf village, an artisans and crafts village, great for strolling and window shopping
Mountain Creek Water Park is about 5 miles south of the inn; they also have a Zipline for those who enjoy the view from up there. Horseback riding at Legends Stables just south of Mountain Creek on route 94.
Take a cruise on the Hudson River from Newburgh landing and enjoy waterfront restaurants.
If you would like to take a kayak tour on the Hudson River check with Storm King Adventure tours in Cornwall to rent a kayak and paddle to Bannerman Island. On weekends you may also enjoy some brews at the Newburgh Brewing company next door to Washington's Headquarters State Historic Park. You may also enjoy Storm King Art Center a 500 acre outdoor sculpture and landscape park near Cornwall.
West Point Military Academy is about 35 minutes from the inn. Woodbury Common Premium Outlet, largest shopping mall on the east coast is about 25 minutes from the inn.
Great hikes nearby for all levels of hiker plus several wildlife refuges ( check the green looseleaf binder at the inn). Appalachian trail is two miles south of the inn on Glenwood Road. Enjoy a walk on the boardwalk and chat with some of the hikers on their way to Maine.
Sample some wine at the Warwick Valley Winery and the Applewood Winery in Warwick and enjoy musical entertainment, the Demarest Hill Winery and the Clearview Winery in Warwick offer tastings as well. This weekend is the annual tribute weekend for the Grateful Dead at the Warwick Valley winery. Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes will be performing Saturday night (8 pm to 10 pm) at the Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center and don' forget to enjoy some fine dining at a dozen nearby restaurants in the town of Warwick.

Summer is in full swing in the Hudson Valley. Catch a great performance of Lend Me a Tenor by the Muddy Waters Players at Museum Village beginning July 12; The Golden Dragon Acrobats entertain at the Sugar Loaf PAC on Saturday at 2 pm; and Andrea McArdle sings songs of the 70's on Sunday at 8 pm. The NY Swing Exchange will be at Lewis Park in Warwick at 7pm on Saturday and the Warwick Merchant's Guild will celebrate the summer with sales all weekend. Celebrate Summer!
