Some chefs move to Pittsburgh. Janine Falvo moves back. She grew up on the North Side, as the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette noted when Bravo cast her on “Top Chef” in 2011, and has spent most of her working life cooking in other people’s cities. Now Fairmont Pittsburgh has named her executive chef. The job puts her in charge of .2, the hotel’s modern American restaurant and bar, and of the private dinners, meetings, and weddings that fill its event rooms.

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming TinyCause and learning more about the inspiring story behind their mission.

Their journey began after they lost their beloved family dog. In their dog’s memory, they began baking homemade dog treats to raise funds for local shelters, turning a personal loss into an opportunity to make a difference.

In 2018, that mission grew when they opened their own location dedicated to supporting rescue dogs. Since then, Tiny Causes has helped rehome more than 1,200 dogs while also supporting essential veterinary care, including spay and neuter services.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to learn more about their meaningful work and the impact they continue to make for animals and families throughout our community.
