We are getting close! The Chatcolet Marina, an exciting state of the art facility developed with cooperation between the Coeur d’Alene Tribe and State of Idaho, is nearing completion. We are offering a marina store, four fueling stations, marine pump out, canoe, kayak and paddle-board rentals, public swimming, fishing, and almost 1/4 mile of promenade on the breakwater going deep into Chatcolet Lake, all directly connected to Lake Coeur d’Alene. The world famous Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes runs through the facility for an exciting chance to boat, bike, hike and swim all here at Heyburn State Park.

We will open for moorage for the 2026 season Memorial Day weekend, and are currently open for new customers. Offering covered slips with 15AMP power for boats 25’ and under and uncovered slips with 30AMP for boats up to 35’, most vessels can be accommodated. All slips are priced at $2950 per season. We also have weather protected and locked canoe, kayak and SUP storage on site, and secured dry docking for trailers available a short drive away. If interested, please contact our visitor center at [email protected] or call at (208) 686-1308.

We are so excited to share this amazing facility and opportunity for recreation with the community. Here’s to many memories to be made!

Due to the extreme wind event on December 17th, 2025, recreational access is limited at Heyburn State Park. Main park roads are open and cleared, but Rocky Point Loop Road is closed to through traffic due to downed power lines. Power is out with restoration anticipated after Christmas, so the Visitor Center is closed. Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes (TOC) is closed from Indian Cliffs to Plummer; there is extensive downfall making passage impossible. The TOC is open from Indian Cliffs to the Trestle Bridge, but past that point, the condition is unknown. Hiking trails have not been assessed, but we anticipate serious and significant damage, likely resulting in full trail clearing not being completed until the early summer of 2026.

Thank you for your patience while we work to fully reopen the park. Have a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

Edit: The closure has unfortunately extended to include October 6th through 10th. Our apologies for the inconvenience.

ATTENTION TRAIL OF THE COEUR D’ALENES USERS: Due to construction at the Chatcolet Marina, we are going to have to close all access through the Chatcolet area Monday through Thursday for the weeks of September 14th, 21st, and 28th. The trail will be open for use Friday through Sunday with packed gravel over the area affected. Because of the location of the work, we will not be able to provide a detour. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience but know that the new marina will provide unprecedented expansion of public access to Lake Chatcolet and that the pavilion is being designed with bicyclists in mind. Great things are coming soon!
