On september 14th a fire was started just below our house on the other side of the river. The same place that the Sand fire was started in 2014. The people that are camped down there had been shooting rifles for several days. I spotted the smoke from our back porch and called 911 to report it, Cal Fire sent out a helicopter, then several more and a large plane to drop retardant on our house. Cal fire and Amador fire crews showed up at our house to access the situation. David and I packed up a few things and evacuated, went in to Plymouth. We had dinner then returned home. Several fire trucks and ground crews were working on the fire, they kept it from crossing the river, thank GOD. Our phone (land line) quit working that day. If you need to contact me, please call my cell phone 209-332-7865 or email me at [email protected]. I contacted AT&T, they sent out a tech. He said the line had been damaged by the fire. AT&T doesn't appear to want to repair it. I have seen that they are trying to release all obligations to their land lines in California. This is REALLY BAD! My cell phone does not work in my house, I have to go outside to get one bar. If the weather is foul, I may not get that ! Please contact the CPUC and let them know that AT&T is putting people like us at risk when there is an emergency. Thank you.
