Last night, to mark the end of our summer Scout camp season, we held our annual plaque signing and steak dinner! During the ceremony, the Thomas J. Horan Scholarship was awarded to six outstanding staff members. The late Mr. Horan was a long time director of Camp Mattatuck. In the first picture, L-R, are: Beth Nelson (Tom’s daughter), Michael Hoffman (in his third year of the scholarship), David Cocchiola (in his fourth year of the scholarship), Chris O’Leary (in his second year of the scholarship), Ben Hakim-Pourkavoos (receiving a one-time allotment), Matthew Reed-Brown (in his first year of the scholarship), and Peter Gati (Scholarship Coordinator). Safire Maher also received a partial scholarship but is not pictured.

We also gave the Patrick D. Sheridan Staff Member of the Year awards to two very deserving staff members. Nathaniel Plona (Waterfront) was named the youth staff member of the year and Matt Cote (Dining Hall Steward) was named the adult staff member of the year.

Also, check out the amazing 2026 staff plaque, made by Sam Goetz!
