Another heads up to our guests this week and neighbors, please heat these warnings, especially after hours when there are no lifeguards present, to keep it very simple if you go in the ocean, your risk your life and that of your loved ones. From North Island Lifeguards regarding Hurricane Erin and beach access later this week…

Due to the expected surf conditions being sent our way by Hurricane Erin, beach access points will be closed for the day on Thursday 8/21. For their own safety, lifeguards will not be staffed during this time. Police will be present to enforce. In interest of public safety, beaches may be closed for a portion of the day Wednesday and / or remain closed Friday depending on surf conditions and lifeguards ability to maintain safety.

For your own safety and the safety of rescuers:

If you see a barricade or beach closure sign RESPECT IT! do not attempt to jump fences or barricades.
Make no attempt to enter or approach the ocean. In waves of this magnitude getting out of the ocean will likely not be possible, and rescue may not be possible.
