Please note that during the potential government shutdown, based on our interpretation of the Department of Interior Contingency Plan for the National Park Service, Yosemite Hospitality operations within Yosemite National Park may remain open.

Yosemite Hospitality operations that will remain open include lodging, dining, and activities. We are waiting for additional details and confirmation, however, we’re confident that if you have a reservation for lodging at The Ahwahnee, Yosemite Valley Lodge, Curry Village, Housekeeping Camp, or Wawona, your reservation will remain and we look forward to hosting you.

Please see the below information on the Big Oak Flat Road (on the Highway 120 entrance) closure.

Always remember to use the roads information line for current conditions! 209-372-0200 (press 1 twice to listen to current road conditions in the park)

Big Oak Flat Road (continuation of Highway 120 west into Yosemite) is closed from just inside the park boundary to Merced Grove. The road will be closed at least until mid-June and possibly into July. We are working with the Federal Highway Administration to start repairs as soon as possible.

Visitors entering Yosemite via Highway 120 from the west can reach Hodgdon Meadow and Hetch Hetchy, but not other areas of the park (including Yosemite Valley).

From Yosemite Valley, visitors can drive up the Big Oak Flat Road to reach the Tuolumne and Merced Groves of Giant Sequoias.

The road has a crack that is about 200 feet long and up to four feet deep. The road surface has moved two to three inches vertically and horizontally and is continuing to move. The embankment below the road has moved as much as 15 feet downslope and has significant water flow through it. It is not safe to open the road even to limited traffic, and doing so would likely lead to additional road failure.

Yosemite National Park will reopen early TOMORROW, Sunday 4/30!

The Yosemite National Park Service announced last week that due to rapid warming, record snowpack at elevation and projected flooding, the Merced River would overflow causing impassible roads and unsafe conditions and that Yosemite National Park would close 4/28 – 5/3.

The river levels forecasted have gone down dramatically, we have not seen the expected widespread flooding we were bracing for and as a result, the park is reopening early!

As we planned for a closure of several days, deliveries and normal orders were delayed and the reopening of all park services (mainly restaurants and hotels) will be phased. The Yosemite Village area (Degnan's, the Village Grill and Village Store) will be the first to fully reopen on Sunday. Monday afternoon we’ll see the opening of The Ahwahnee, Curry Village and Yosemite Valley Lodge and additional limited dining. Dining rooms will follow on Wednesday as they get the kitchens fully stocked with fresh goods to serve your favorites.

We can’t wait to welcome you back into the park as conditions are now safe! Take advantage of this rare opportunity to book a last minute room in the heart of Yosemite! https://reservations.ahlsmsworld.com/Yosemite/Plan-Your-Trip/Accommodations

The river did not rise as much as forecast, so Yosemite Valley will be open Sunday from 7 am to 8 pm for day-use only with very limited services. The only concession services available in Yosemite Valley will be the Village Store, Village Grill, and Degnan’s Kitchen.

Yosemite Valley will then reopen fully on Monday at 7 am.

Rivers are running very high and are extremely dangerous. Do not go into or even approach rivers in Yosemite.
