"Felt like being in a National Geographic documentary”
Just got a nice email from Peter directing us to their blog featuring us Bear Watching in Lake Clark National Park. It brought back such incredible memories. Bear Watching was just one of several adventures we had while staying at the The General Lodge. Peter and his family, staff and guides made us feel at home and introduced us to the incredible Alaskan wilderness. Although we are outdoor enthusiasts, we were a bit intimidated to organize our own Alaskan adventure so we decided to let Peter and his staff organize a variety of day trips. It was the best decision we made. How else could folks like us find ourselves in what felt like a National Geographic documentary - flying around in a bush plane, circling around to get a closer view of dall sheep, dipping down to see bear tracks in the snow, seeing moose wade in a pond and landing on a beach to watch bears digging up clams? On other days we kayaked and zoomed up mountain streams in a jet boat skimming around shallows and downed trees to get to our fishing spot. Every day ended at The General with a gourmet meal and comfortable rooms. For us, it was the best of both worlds, enjoying the outdoors all day and then enjoying a relaxing evening. Of course this fit us well, but there were many options and alternatives to chose from. We hope to return to Alaska and The General Lodge again, but it is not around the corner!
