Friends,
23 years ago we bought an overgrown and boarded up lodge with the best view on Lake Clark. We had no idea then that we would grow to love it so dearly. Over the years we have had so many adventures and good times with friends and family here. From hiking to waterfalls, to rafting the Chilikadrotna, the Mulchatna, and the Kijik, campfires on the beach and catching so many fish. Hiking, and kayaking, and always exploring. We came to know where to see bears, when the eagles nest on the island, and where the moose bed down. We’ve made lifelong friends - and lost some too. We know the many moods of the lake, every bit of the north end, and every inch of the island. So, it is bittersweet that we tell you now, that we have sold the lodge. It is time to move on to our next adventure - whatever that will be. We can only hope that it will mean half as much to us as this place has. We can’t help but feel “how lucky are we to have had something that makes saying goodbye so hard?”
We were here for a mere 23 years - a blip on the historical timeline of this lake and land. And yet to us, it was everything.
With much love and gratitude,
Richard and Alison
