I think we have seen the last snow for the year. It snowed two days when we were there last weekend (Mar 15/16). Big giant snow flakes drifting straight down (no side wind). Surreal. It didn't stick to the roads which we were glad about. While we were there we met up with the owner of the Olympic View Cabins who just so happens to own about 20 acres due east of our property. She came over and we blazed a trail through our woods to her property line; the idea being that future renters can rent both properties and walk back and forth on a nice nature trail through the forest. She does outdoor weddings and our place would be perfect for the dinner parties that go with most weddings. Steve

We have the Lodge rented at Christmas again this year. Renters are coming in from Brooklyn, New York! Then the Kunkel clan will arrive on the 28th for our annual New Year's get together. Should be fun.

This week we have rented the Lodge to a couple who are celebrating her 60th Birthday which falls on Thanksgiving. All of their kids from around the country are flying in for the event. They dropped by on Sunday to see if I had all the kitchen tools needed to put on a Thanksgiving Dinner (we did). We had a lovely visit. It's just a matter of time for the locals to discover this great meeting place for winter family retreats and reunions. Maybe this is the beginning....

Lodge is being rented by a girls basketball team from Rainier, Washington. They are playing in a tournament in Port Angeles. Their coach says they have a good chance to win it all. First sports team to rent the Lodge.

We now have a trail that goes down to the stream. Later this month I will be putting down about 2 inches of bark to make it easy to walk on and to keep the natural plants from growing back.

We now have 9 weeks of rentals booked for this coming summer. Sometime this spring we are going to build some more trails.

We spent 6 days at the Lodge at the end of December. I even stayed up to see the New Year arrive. Nights were cold and clear. Because there are no house and street lights around us we could see all the stars and even the milky way. The wood stove kept the whole house warm even though it was 23 degrees at night. Alice was on her facebook a lot of the time and I played Scrabble.

The same people who rented in August are back for 10 days through the Christmas Holiday. Our family will spend a few days there before and after New Year's eve. There are very few places that I go that I don't miss a few football games on TV. This is one of them! We do have internet there so I can check the scores. Go Washington Huskies! Steve

Wow, did we get a lot of rain up here. The creek was higher than I have ever seen it. Next summer we are planning to build a trail down to the creek for a close up view.

Hi, I'm heading up to the Lodge today to get the place ready for the next rental which starts on the 18th. This is a great month to visit the peninsula. I like to hike on the beach. See the link below for my favorite beach hike near Sequim.
